Cycle Touring in France: Eight selected cycle tours

France has a much more varied and beautiful landscape than many people realize. This books offers a great diversity of trails to take throughout the country. Another fine Cicerone guide.

I was looking for cycle tours that are continuous and take about 6 weeks so this book did not do it for me but if you live close to france and want to use the excellent French railway and go for short rides this book may well be useful. Read a sample before you buy.

The Kindle version that I bought has no overview maps to get a context of different routes and locations. Pent version may (or may not) have this.Some good information for sure, especially re time of year for each route, but lacking in some specifics I am seeking at this stage of planning from the U.S.

Cycling in France is a fabulous, if sometimes exasperating, experience. The country has an abundance of different landscapes, most of them startingly beautiful. This book provides a handy resource for those cycle tourists ready to sample France's delights. While the maps are very basic, the route descriptions are valuable, providing both a sense of the terrain, and the historical and natural wonders of different communities. Besides, you can easily supplement the book with local maps. One note for cyclists: The book is small but heavy, thanks to rich, quality paper, and you might want to think about either tearing out the appropriate sheets for your area (yikes!) or photocopying those pages. If you're chugging up some alp or pedaling through the Central Massif, you'll want to be as free of unnecessary weight as possible. But the rewards of cycling in France - formidable!

OK. But if you like to cycle longer distances this might not be enough for you.

lots of ideas, inspiration and practical info. And pointers to other information. We haven't been on our trip yet (!), but the book has been helpful to planning it.
