So I personally don't really get it. I don't use this and dislike the weight. However this review isn't about me. My wife has several sleeping issues that this blanket seems to help with. She likes it so much that you would have to pry it from her cold dead fingers if you wanted to take it. The only person that can get it from her is our 9 year old daughter that also likes sleeping under it. My wife is self sacrificing enough that she will let our daughter use it most of the time. I finally solved that by purchasing a second one. It does seem to allow both of them to sleep deeper and calmer and get better rest than without. Not only do they like sleeping under them but it gets dragged out all the time for huddling under on the couch for watching movies or reading a book. It seems to provide a calming security for them. The one downside is that my wife is cold natured and she complains that this blanket doesn't keep her as warm as she would like. However in combination with another light blanket it works fine for her. The upside to this is that she uses it in the summer also and it doesn't overheat her. I think it actually balances out to the positive given this. So I don't really innately understand or feel the value of this but I see the effect on my wife and child and I would buy this over and over for them for the help getting a good nights sleep it provides them.

UPDATE: it’s been 4 months and we’re still going strong. I’ve noticed that I fall asleep faster and don’t flail around as much. It hasn’t been a cure-all. A certain level of anxiety remains, but I don’t think a blanket will ever fully erase that. It *does* help though. If you’re still on the fence about getting one, and you don’t have fears of smothering or being held down, try it. I get a sense of protection or stability (can’t really define it) from it, but my mother says she couldn’t sleep with something like that on her. She does have space issues and doesn’t like cramped areas or elevators particularly. Give it consideration if you feel that way as well because it may not be the thing for you. I hadn’t even thought of that for my initial review. Whether or not you’re going the chemical way, I think it would be a welcome addition. I like it. Recommend. 🙂 ORIGINAL: I have trouble falling asleep, but this is an excellent helper. When you turn the sheets and blankets back it’s all I can do to lift it from that angle. It’s the same for pulling it up after you crawl in. You think you are going to be crushed. When you get everything like you want it, though, it is very nice. The weight keeps me from fidgeting around, turning back and forth. I like that the pressure of the weight is telling me to stay still and ride it out. I don’t know if I feel like a dog in a storm vest, but it does keep my mind from wondering over and over which way I should turn, if I’m too hot, so forth. Being a 15lbs blanket some people might worry about getting too warm. I haven’t found that at all. As a matter of fact on colder nights I put an electric blanket over it. The heat comes through fine. If you have any worries about buying it due to overheating, don’t worry about that. When I finally get to sleep it seems to be better quality than previously. A few years ago I used a heavy denim RL comforter and loved it. Even though it was heavy it was perfect year round. This reminds me a lot of that. Be careful to get a thick close fitting duvet cover. It has a tendency to slide and bunch in the thinner one I currently have it in.

My son is 7 years old. He started showing signs of having bad anxiety when he began preschool. Since birth he has never slept through the night or in his own bed. I kept asking myself when will it stop? He was constantly exhausted, grumpy, and would get sick easy which I suspect is from the last of sleep. He also had dark bags under his eyes. One of my girlfriends recommended this blanket to me. I thought, why not, I'm already losing sleep. It arrived within 1 day with free amazon prime shipping and they were offering a discount. Had my son lay in his bed and put it on him. He slept through the night you guys!! And even better it has been one week already and he has yet to wake up and come into our bed. I just want to cry because I'm so happy! Hes so much more happier and has tons of energy. He doesnt feel scared anymore at night. This is the best thing that has ever been created. Out of the excitement I forgot to mention I got the 10 pound blanket in the small size, I think 4'x5'. It was a little smaller than I expected but it still does the trick. The blanket should be 20% of your child body weight and my son is around 50 pounds so it was exactly what we needed without him being weighed down too much. There are small beads sewn into small squares in the blanket which is how it gets its weight. I havent tried to wash it yet in the machine so I cant comment on that but it does seem very sturdy. I highly recommend this blanket for any child having issues in the evening and definitely will give it as a gift also. Enjoy your sleep fellow parents as that's exactly what everyone will get!

The overall quality of the blanket is good. Personally, there were 2 issues I had with the blanket, but it was STRICTLY a personal preference and not an issue with the quality or efficacy of the blanket. For reference these are the PERSONAL issues I had with the blanket, as I prefer my weighted blankets a certain way: 1- The fiber fill to glass pellet/bead ratio. I prefer weighted blankets to have their weight be composed of the glass pellets/beads and not fiber filling. Meaning each individual pocket in the blanket has more or only glass pellets/beads and doesn’t trap body heat and allows for better adaptation to me when I move or adjust while I sleep. Other people prefer different things, but this is my preference. Like I said before the blanket itself is good just not what I wanted. 2- The blanket only had 4 duvet loops to attach an external duvet cover to. For a 17 lb. blanket 4 loops is not enough for the weight. I always choose a weighted blanket over the 10-12% suggested because the body adapts to the weight after awhile and I cycle through the weights, so the duvets I have all 6 attachment points and my other weighted blankets have 6 loops for the duvet to attach to. If you don’t plan on putting a duvet on the blanket it is a good quality external material. Unfortunately I am not keeping this blanket and will be returning it. But for the price it’s a good starter weighted blanket for anyone looking to try one and see which/what kind they like.

I have suffered from anxiety and ADHD symptoms throughout my whole life, and i gotta say, this blanket has taken the edge off of trying to sleep with a busy mind. It really does feel like a warm hug, and the weight seems to calm my soul. Of course, I will note that it is a bit hot after a while, especially for me living in a tropical area. But, for the chilly winters I know the heat will be much appreciated. The blanket arrived with no holes or defects, and feels sturdy and high-quality. A final note is that this model is going for a much lower price than a lot of the others on amazon, so if you’re looking for a weighted blanket for the first time, I very much recommend this one to avoid spending over a hundred on some you aren’t sure you will like.

I bought it for my husband, who has trouble sleeping and thought I would give it a try. I didn't mean to buy the twin size, we have a queen size bed, bed it actually ends up working out. At least with this we don't have to fight over who has the covers and it fits one person really well for sleeping. We don't plan to use it for watching television or when traveling so, so far so good. Even though it's weighted, it's doesn't make him any hotter than another blanket. The material is a durable cotton blend. (I saw one at target and the material looked snaggable which made me question it's longevity.) I haven't washed it yet so I can't speak to that. As for if it has improved my husband's sleep I can't say for sure since it's only been a few days, but he seem to be sleeping a little more soundly. I only tried it, to see how it felt, and it does feel really good.

I am not one to write reviews but this blanket is incredible. For years I have been sleeping under five or more blankets a night (year round, mind you - that got a little toasty in the summer) because the weight helped to calm some anxiety and my bad insomnia. I have been on the market for a weighted blanket for months now. I was looking for high quality but I do not have the money to spend close to $100 if not more on it. This blanket is everything I hoped for and much more. While the texture is not as soft as I originally hoped, I think it would cause overheating if the fabric was any thicker. I have the 15 lbs one and the weight as well as distribution is perfect. A small tip while ordering: if you share your sleeping space with someone else, think about if you want it to span the entire bed or just one side. My partner did not want 15 pounds on him while he sleeps, and this helped me choose the correct size and weight while ordering.

I bought one of these blankets a year ago and I'm finding that my daughter is always stealing mine so I bought her one for Christmas. My daughter is a very light sleeper and she also tosses and turns at night and this blanket help with these issues. The blanket cocoon's her in her bed and keeps her warm at night. Just having her use this blanket and greatly improved her sleep She thinks that it is a little heave when she first gets in but over time she relaxes into it. Would recommend to a friend.
