Durable, Comfortable, Versatile and Attractive
DURABILITY: I had a pair of these for 7 years before finally cashing them in, and then only because the tread was starting to wear down and the exterior was looking worn; the structure itself remained well intact even though I wore them every day for every function from September through April. After shopping around for other boots of various brands (including the slightly more expensive Timberland Flume boots), I just had to come back to these for the value.COMFORT: The shoes feel a little stiff right out of the box, but they provide great arch support and felt extremely comfortable within two (2) hours of wearing them. The insole breaks in quickly to be much cushier to wear than it feels to the touch -- so much so that I don't think I need to use the Dr. Scholl's shoe inserts that I normally put in all my other shoes.USAGE/FIT: I've gone through LOTS of snow and water with these, and the waterproofing was wonderful. This is also a sporty shoe that you can hike, climb, and even run in. They're slim, light and agile, they hug your feet well (including the heels), and they provide excellent ankle support. The FIRST night I wore them, I literally did a cross-training workout with lots of lateral movement to test them out, and they passed with flying colors.COLOR/APPEARANCE: This newer model is VERY similar to the old one, only with slightly different tread and a brownish-gold collar and tongue cloth that matches the brown leather better than the older silverish-white cloth shown on Amazon. The brown leather is initially a little darker than it appears on Amazon, but lightens with time and water exposure. However, even after 7 years of wear, I was still getting compliments on how they looked -- both on the trail and at Christmas parties.SIZE: I normally wear a 10.5 or 11 shoe, and these fit perfectly at 10.5. I have narrow feet, so the narrower (D/M) size works well, but it's snug; if there's ANY doubt, or if you're borderline in shoe width, get the wider (E) size.

Best boots I've ever worn! Perfect fit, super comfortable, durable/long lasting.
These are the best boots I've ever worn! I got my first pair years ago at a local sporting goods store. The store clerk talked me into them because they were his favorite boots and he raved about how comfortable they are and how well they hold up. Well, he was spot on! I can't even remember how long ago I got that first pair, but they are still going. I finally wore a hole through the side of the left boot near my little toe. Other than that, the boots are still holding up fine and they are more comfortable than ever. That original pair has been "downgraded" to my around-the-house work boots and are now covered with paint spatters and all sorts of other stains. I was stoked to find the same boots on Amazon and ordered a replacement pair in dark brown to use for work, hiking, casual out-and-about, and whatever. As expected, they fit perfectly and feel just like the originals I got years ago. These things don't even really need break-in time. I can wear them all day, no matter what I'm doing, and my feet feel great at the end of the day. My feet don't even sweat in them. And if you can believe it, after all the years I wore that original pair, they don't even smell bad! LOL I'd much rather wear these than any other shoe or boot, including tennis shoes. I have walked/hiked in these things for several miles through pretty rough terrain with no discomfort at all. I feel like I should order another couple pairs to ensure I never have to be without them!

Update 11-10-17: 11 months later having worn every weekday and most weekends since purchased and these boots are holding up great. The Obenaufs has worked very well at water proofing and protecting with no harmful side effects to leather or glue holding soles on. Highly recommend both boot and sealer.Have worn Timberland hiking boots for years due to quality, fit, comfort and look. I have wide feet that have had multiple broken bones in each and can say these are the most comfortable shoe, of any kind, that I own. I'm 53 now and this is my 4th or 5th pair so that's not bad considering I started wearing them when I was about 14. Granted I don't have the need here in Texas like I did up in IA, MN and OR for snow proof hikers for daily wear but once you water proof these they're great even when it's warm and wet.I've used mink oil and snow seal without problems in the past but am trying Obenaufs on this pair so will update if there are any problems. So far have to say I really like the stuff. Suspect these boots are glued with similar glues used in ice skates so would not recommend baking boots and certainly wouldn't bake them, lace them up and stand as that would most likely be cause for soles separating as mentioned in one of the many other reviews of this very solid hiker.I just used hair dryer to heat the leather up and applied generously working it in like a 25 cent...we'll you understand. Just hand rup the stuff in, let sit a while, wipe off with cloth and brush.
