Perfect flute for pre-beginner band students!
My husband and I both have Bachelors in Music Ed. Our daughter desperately wanted a flute, but we knew she doesn’t quite have the lung capacity yet to fill one up. This is the perfect solution for a very young player. She’s getting a great sound and can eventually transition to the lip plate. Super fun, inexpensive option for an ambitious kiddo. Oh, and it’s pink. 😉

I think I will make noise on purpose
I made a few Extremely 3AM purchases recently, and unlike many others, I don't regret these! I picked up the Toot, Dood, and jSax from Nuvo Instruments. So far I've enjoyed playing around with the Dood the most, though the Toot is the easiest to just pick up and play with its special lip plate. I figure the jSax is something I will work up to. I plan on picking up the jHorn at some point because it looks like a lot of fun to play. They were designed to be used in elementary classrooms, so they're sturdy and easy-to-clean. I find the silicon keys very tactility-pleasing. All of them are way less annoying to listen to than a recorder, in my opinion, but the Toot is higher pitched than the other two, of course. They're such a great value for the price. I'd recommend the Toot for as young as 4-5 years old, but saving the Dood until they have enough patience to get the hang of the embouchure. But for the price, I say get one for yourself! Making music is good for you.

A+ for the price
Flutist/flute teacher review:Great way to get young ones started without a hefty purchase, and it fits their little hands. Great for what it is. Responds to dynamic contrast.Pros: Easy to hold, to get a sound out. Washable! Durable. Silicone keys mean no pads underneath to tear.Cons: Sound is a smidge recorder-ish, tuning is poor on non-C scale pitches. Fingering resembles recorder (no left pinky key, trill keys, resembles a recorder in that manner, except held to the side). Limited range of notes. With all the cons said, I consider this for a young student who may otherwise struggle even with a curved headjoint flute for its size and weight. I consider this for littles who might (and have) dented metal flutes or come into class with a rather gross, sticky flute because... they're kids. This is great for pre-school age.

Great little crossover instrument
I love this little guy!! As a band director who is being told we might be working with 4th graders next year, I was trying to find an alternative to real instruments. This is the crossover between a recorder and a flute and has both mouth plates included. It plays great. It is extremely durable and I'm now looking to acquire the other Nuvo instruments. They make repair kits for them if anything gets broken. Being ABS plastic and silicone, I think they will definitely stand up to 4th graders. Very impressed

It’s okay
My son likes it and it’s teaching him to position his fingers correctly, etc. I guess that should be enough. It’s inexpensive so I should be happy I suppose.Still, the color (Black) from the container bled through onto the flute, so it looks used. Seems like they maybe should have used a different material. Maybe it was just this one, and I could have exchanged it, but that’s such a waste. He is using the whistle piece for now and it’s ok. It sounds better than some $5 wooden whistle.

So Much Fun!
I love this little flute-like instrument, and so does my granddaughter. It has a fun tone, and is the perfect size for young children - and adults who want an easily transportable, simple instrument. My granddaughter started out with the "Firstnote" lip plate, then graduated to the regular one. She actually is teaching herself to play. Highly recommend!

It's nice but sounds a bit like a recorder
This Nuvo flute is great but it sounds a little bit like a recorder but it's great for beginners like my daughter! she loves it has soft silicone buttons and easy to wash. I think it's really good for beginners it comes with a little instruction book too. And my daughter learned how to play the original mouthpiece of the flute in one day!!!👍

Perfect for children
If you need a place to see if your child is interested and willing to learn to play the flute, this little guy is perfect.
