Excellent instructor!
I've been learning from Burt Casey for a about 20 years now! He makes learning easy and fun and now you can go online for live instructions free, come with the book! It arrived on time and in perfect condition!

a challenging guide to bluegrass songs
I love this book - it comes with audio to play slow and up tempo. it also starts with doable versions of the break - then progresses to much more difficult versions. So, if you want to learn an easy break and then progress to more sophisticated efforts, this book will help. If one masters the contents of this book - they are ready to jam with the best.I bought about five music books recently on bluegrass picking, songs, techniques, etc. (all good BTW), but this is my favorite.

3.5 stars. No metronome time and not exact
This was a decent resource but the tabs are not very accurate. If you play many of these songs with the original version you will notice many differences. Also, no time signature is listed for songs. It would help if there was an exact metronome. If you are a note-for-note player, or someone who plays for people this resource is not accurate enough to use.If you are a beginner then fine. You will enjoy.

Unique style
I’ve personally never seen song books like this, it’s a bit to the intermediate side for sure. Great for diving into flat picking obviously. The way it’s written certainly helps keep it clean and neat.

Music in non-standard notation.
Although usable the format is different from other tab music I have used which makes it less user friendly.

Great book!
This is a great guitar songbook for those interested in flatpicking. The songs progress in difficulty starting with some pretty easy songs and gradually getting harder. The audio recordings are very helpful too!

Good for want to be flat pickers!
This was the first book I ever got when I decided to try and learn how to play Bluegrass, it's a great book, I learned a lot from it and did every song in the book. Took a couple of years and my orig. copy was pretty raggy and scribbled up with notes etc. so I ordered again. I still use it after years of playing to go back and address certain licks or tunes. I only wish he would come out with a second one with new tunes....great book!

Carter and flatpicking
Along with Dix Bruce book this is an essential Carter style flat picking book to own to develop you skills in this genre, I personally recommend using a thumbpick and finger pick to achieve a better tone but they are not essential for this style

great book
Good selection of flatpicking standards, good arrangements that are fun (and challenging) to play. The tunes are written in both traditional notation and guitar tab, which works great for me. As the author says, this isn't a beginners' book. After 4 months I have 4 tunes down to where I can play along with the slow recording, but playing along with the fast version is tough! I guess it will take me at least a year to learn all the tunes, longer to master them, so there's a lot of value here for a modest price. One tip - pay attention to the picking directions (alternate picking?) which really helps getting a solid sense of rhythm on these tunes.
