Lipstick Jungle: A Novel

I got interested in reading chick lit after reading The P.I.G. Mantras by Romina Wilcox. I picked up this book because it's a story about a women's struggle in a corporate world. In contrast, Lipstick Jungle is more of a story if you want to escape since the characters did not arrived at a "realization" as in The P.I.G Mantras. Here, the characters are high powered women in New York (Victory, Wendy and Nico). The story shows how women has to work harder in a high powered world, dealing with opposite sex may they be their colleagues, spouses or someone significant. But as in The P.I.G. Mantras, these women have their own mantra. And that is to remain strong and to develop a good relationship with colleagues. If you want to escape while on the cruise to Bahamas, this book will complete your enjoyment.

Its one of ethose books I never expected to be good, cause I hated the tv series, but the book is really good and keeps you totally hookedfrom start to finish. 4 blonds was awful, but this book was so much more intriguing! The character development is richer and a great read when on vacation or loafing around.

I know she writes a story that many like to hear, the rise and fall of the rich and famous. I do like her nominally present under-current of female power in a male dominate world. however I found her story predictable, rudimentary and stilted. To me this was like picking up a magazine a reading a small line story.

Lipstick Jungle is BRILLIANT; the characters stay in your thoughts, like you know them or something out of a parallel universe. It's a book that makes you feel other realities and think newly shaped thoughts.Candace brings back an array of other characters (also players who belong in the parallel universe she creates) from her other 3 books.Old Comstock Dibble comes to mind, and there's George Paxton, Selden Rose and his ex wife the Model, Tanner Cole and Jenny Cadine!It motivated me and I felt it so utterly real!!!I highly recommend it.

I ordered my copy and I couldn't put it down, Candace Bushnell is our 21st Century Edith Wharton. The relationships between the women transcend the model of many contemporary novels. The story is engaging, inspiring, wildly entertaining and quite funny. The author has a razor sharp wit and she draws you in on the first page.Do I love this book?Does Dolly Parton sleep on her back?

Lipstick Jungle features three strong, savvy New York women - friends - who make a dent in a mostly male-dominated environment. Each woman's story is embedded with trials, tribulations, but because of their moxy they survive. (Can you hear them singing "I will survive!"?) Cynthia Nixon's audio version was quite well edited, and Nixon does an excellent job with characterizations. I enjoyed listening as I tooled back and forth to work. I would recommend this audio book. I'm thinking maybe I'd like the novel, as well.

The book is ok, but the NBC series was much much better. Really BIG disappointment that they cancelled the show. Actually I bought the book hoping to prolong what I had seen of the series, but didn't work out that way.No complaint on Amazon - the purchase went very smoothly and I had the ebook file right away. Very BIG disappointment with NBC for cancelling the show. Hey guys! Bring the girls back!

Exciting book and great story plot. I loved how they talk about those 3 women and family. Love life, family and friends. Popularity and fame. Awesome book. Will like to say shall read this nice book.
