Works As Advertised
I bought this unit because my car stereo has an AUX port, but the sound quality from my plugged-in media device was too low to be able to listen to without distortion from having to turn up the volume too high on both to hear well. A world of difference this unit makes. The unit does a great job of boosting the sound from my media player, enabling me to comfortably listen in my car without distortion or sound loss. It did take a few minutes to discover the right media player volume setting to maximize sound quality output and balance it with the car stereo's volume for meaningful volume adjustment. I only have one very minor issue with the unit. The unit is "On" whenever a stereo plug is inserted into the top "in" port, not whenever a media player is attached. As the unit sits in my car, the extra step of disconnecting the cable from both the media player and the Boostaroo is needed or else the batteries drain overnight. All in all, a perfect solution to my car audio problem.

Great piece of hardware with a few minor issues
This works great with the XM reciever i use through the AUX input on my car stereo - the difference in quality is unreal! It is NOT needed for MP3 players or IPODS if you have a Ipod car charger with a line out feature that uses the USB out instead of the headphone jack. If you have to use the headphone jack, then this is a good buy.The worst complaint is the battery compartment as it is terribly difficult to open and I am sure I am going to break it (the compartment) some day. AAAA batteries are pretty hard to come by and you have to get them online for a good deal. This is great for satellite radio units and anything where you need to use the headphone jack.

Nice Idea, terrible execution
I can't vouch either way about the sound quality or actual intended functionality because i couldn't, for the life of me, open up the battery compartment to put the batteries in. A tiny ridge on the edge of the compartment seems to be the only thing to actually assist in trying to get the damn thing open. Prodding with a fingernail, wedging a dime into the seam....all attempts proved futile. The case is made of cheap plastic so i'm afraid i'm going to break the door of the compartment if i press too hard. What terrible design!!! And its my own fault for not being able to return this within the 30day limit, so no money back. The concept for this tool is great. My wife and I travel together and like to watch movies on my laptop or ipod, but the amplification gets washed out when connecting two sets of headphones to the device...so this sounded like the answer to our problems. Received it the day before our travel and i spent a good 20minutes of my time just trying to open up the battery compartment. No dice, so i left it home.Really Boosteroo, please hire a reasonable Industrial designer to create a case that works and up the quality of materials and you might have something.

Just OK
The product is easy to use, just plug it in with the included patch cable, then plug the earphones into the Boostaroo. The sound thru the earphones was good. I was hoping to use it for a pre-amp into a car system and home audio system. The sound, in these applications, was somewhat like the old reverbs you could add to cars. It echos. It was worse with some selections than others. The claim of 4X volume was optimistic in my opinion. It is louder, but not nearly four times. I kept it, but I'm somewhat disappointed.

Volume increased but quality decreased.
Bought this thinking it would boost my audio with no static... sadly i was very let down. No matter how i used it i always had worse audio quality than when i was not using it. It did increase to volume of the music but it also ruined the quality. Not even worth a purchase even though it is cheap. I did some further research for items like this and found the Fiio e6 it has a lot of good reviews and as long as you get a genuine product u are given a 1 year warrenty for only 10 bucks more than the boostaroo. So i would look into the Fiio product line instead of the boostaroo.

Product was not a BOOSTAROO amplifier
Seeing the BOOSTAROO name ,I called them upon receiving the Amplifier. I am not sure that it meets the 4 X amplification.BOOSTAROO said they could not help me because this is not their product. It is manufactured by AC Cool Stuff. I calledthem and was told that the person who made the amplifier would call me in a couple of days. That was 2 weeks ago

the plastic case looked like some liquid was etched in it
The Boostaroo I received was obviously not new. The device was scratched up, the plastic case looked like some liquid was etched in it, and had a white powerdy substance leaking out of the headphone jack hole. All very easily seen as I removed it from the (Zip Lock Bag) packaging. The batteries that were included in the package were AAA, not AAAA (no misprint). And, the access panel to insert the batteries is difficult to remove without a small screwdriver or pocket knife. I returned it without a replacement.

Now I can hear my Garmin Zumo!
My Garmin Zumo GPS is very nice to use on the bike when touring, but I've had a hard time hearing the voice and music over my helmet speakers. I realized it was a known issue, so I set about looking for an inexpensive, portable amplifier that I could use inline with the Garmin while riding. The Boosteroo Revolution has made a world of difference! The volume is loud and clear and now I don't have to strain to hear the voice prompts. It also works great when I use my iPod on and off the bike.
