The Curious Douchebag's Guide to Coffee
This is an okay book. As a current barista, I expected more in terms of actual drinks and subtleties to make established drinks better. There are a decent amount of recipes that the average person would be able to make, but most of this book is long, drawn out history that nobody actually cares about. There's just so much unnecessary information. However, the book itself is designed beautifully and it feels very high quality. The content just leaves much to be desired. Also, the author comes off extremely snobby which makes reading this book very infuriating at times. There's always some pointless quip about something. This makes it come off like I'm reading "The Curious Douchebag's Guide to Coffee." Some of this information is helpful, but a lot of it is pointless. I'd say this is a good resource if you want to learn more about the actual history of coffee, but his douchey syntax comes off super unprofessional.

Well Made!
Beautiful book, i know there are others like it, but i am not disappointed at all in this one. The pictures are beautiful, the cover is nice and thick, the information in it covers history, background of drinks, "myths" if you will around coffee, and the modern day. As a barista i really enjoyed this book and it looks cool on the coffee table too :)!

Useful for home baristas
This book has helped me to create my own vanilla lattes, and iced coffees. The book has lots of information on the "how to" and much more. In the end, I have learned to create a product that tastes equally as good, if not better, than the commericial giant(s). The book covers everything from the history of coffee, to brewing methods, to equipment, and recipes, etc. In my opinion, this is definitely a useful book for someone looking to make their own handcrafted coffee.

Great coffee table book that is both beautiful and interesting
This book is very interesting and informative. I was hoping it covered a few more variations on coffee drinks, but the technical knowledge about the entire coffee process more than makes up for it. The book itself is gorgeous, with thick paper and beautiful color photos and artwork. The cover and binding are really impressive and make this a very attractive coffee table book. I've enjoyed reading it.

I good book to educate your self about coffee and the current specialty coffee world. Most of the book will be about the coffee history / origin / the different ways of coffee preparations. Not much when it comes to coffee recipes , but I would recommend it to all coffee lovers. It will definitely make you appreciate coffee and specialty coffee more

coffee: not as fun as alcohol.
i am a bartender and i really like 'the curious bartender.' (another book by stephenson---his first, i think.) i am only an occasional coffee drinker myself but i got this book because i'm friends with the guy who does the coffee and espresso things at my restaurant and i thought it could be fun for us to look at together---you know, something nice for team alcohol and team caffeine to share. :) i also thought it would probably have good ideas for coffee concoctions and cocktails and lots of pretty pictures. ('the curious bartender' has a ton of content and i've learned a lot from it, don't get me wrong, but for me the pictures are what really make it fabulous. it's like cocktail porn.) (ha, i also thought it would have ideas for cute things to draw in coffee foam, etc. little did i know that serious baristas condemn such frivolous latte art!)now this book is SERIOUS. especially if you are a very casual coffee drinker like i am. it's much meatier than i expected it to be---i mean, there's charts, science, detailed histories of all different machines involved in coffee-manufacturing, discussions of ethics and public policy, and of course instructions for how to prepare coffee using all kinds of different methods and accoutrements. (many of which, let me just say, will cost you real money, and i am never going to try them, but it's vaguely nice to know about them....but yes the emphasis is definitely on pricey gadgety ways to enjoy this beverage...and also there is surprisingly little about more-traditional and/or less-first-world ways to drink it.)in any case i learned a lot about coffee. it's a good rigorous book. definitely get it if you are serious about coffee. and you probably shouldn't get it if you aren't.

Coffee world.
This is a really informative book which has become something of a reference for me. Bought a new blend the other day and it turned out bitter. This manual explained the matter of "over extraction" and a tweak of my Rancilio resulted in a wonderful deeply flavoured and satisfying cup. The volume happens to be an interesting read and at times an inspiration to try different things. Most enjoyable.

Good
I have the Curious Bartenders book for cocktails and I adore it, so I saw this and thought I'd try it out. It's informative about coffee and how it's roasted, brewed, where it comes from etc. Only disappointment was that I was hoping for more drinks/styles/"cocktails" but there are only a few. Still a decent book though! Good gift for coffee lovers who aren't expecting it to be like his previous books.

Great Gift
Mrs C loves, in fact, adores all things coffee. She has the ambition to own her own coffee house. I bought this book as a Christmas gift and she loved it. It is almost an encyclopaedia of coffee making and gives great advice on running a coffee shop. Whilst the content of the book leaves me cold, for a coffee lover, it is full of great content and interesting ideas. As such I am happy to Recommend this book to any lover of coffee who wants to know more.
