One Year Update
1 Year Update - This pump has run continuously, yes continuously for 373 days, 24 hours a day. We have a 300 gallon in ground Koi pond. The original circulation system stopped working after 50 years and I purchased this as a temporary experiment. I hooked this pump up to a 12v deep cycle marine battery and used the solar panel to charge the battery so that we could have 24 hour continuous operation. It took a few weeks to develop a good filtration system around the pump, and that needs to be cleaned about every two weeks. I take that time to also flush the pump with fresh water to clear any accumulated bio material. The pump itself has never stopped operating and has maintained its pressure at a 3 ft foot rise. I have been careful to keep the pump submerged while operating.

Good quality pump but you need patience
This is a well built pump, but it has some eccentricities.I used this to retrofit a home depot type fountain. It needs a lot of power to run. I originally hooked it up to a 45W Harbor Freight solar panel set and it worked for a few minutes while I was holding the wire and testing. I had the polarity wrong when I finally hooked it up properly and it didn't work. To save others time: Brown wire is positive and Blue wire is negative. I wish they put the color codes in the instructions. Pump only works when the sun is directly shining on the panels. Any clouds and no pumping. But that really isn't a flaw. I would rather have a lower wattage pump which moved less water and did it more often however. I tried to run it with a small 12v power supply for testing and it wouldn't work, but it does work with the 20+ volt solar panels. When the pump is running, it moves a lot of water, as much as my old 110V pump. I tore the pump apart to clean it once after it jammed and was impressed with the heavy duty construction. I think this will last a lot long than the many 110 V pumps I have gone through on this 10 year old fountain. After taking the pump apart and troubleshooting it, the excellent build quality was evident. I may later add an arduino controller and battery to see if I can have it run when detecting presence of dog or person, and for a minimum of 10 minutes per hour otherwise.

Amazing pump!
We searched for a while to find something that would work for our (man-made) stream-fed pond. We needed to use solar energy bc it's too far back in our yard for electricity. And we needed something that would keep a continual flow going through the 30 foot stream all the way back to the pond. This one looked promising and within our budget. We hooked it up easily and already had some bendable plastic 1/2" pipe lying around so it was a super quick install. Then we waited for the rain and were so excited to go turn it on. The pump pushed the water through the pipe quickly and we had a nice little waterfall flowing from the output of the pipe. It's perfect! Even when it's cloudy it's still pumping out water. We like how it'll go from a full flow to a softer flow when clouds pass over the sun. Very peaceful! Excellent product

Initial bad impression totally reversed
8-9-17 update.I initially rated this product one star. (See review below.) However, the distributor (solariver) saw the review and took action. With a few days after I posted the review a new pump arrived -- unsolicited and totally unexpected. Great customer service! I was outside the Amazon 30-day return period so this level of service from solariver is really commendable. After further investigation and some twiddling, I determined that the problem was not with the original pump but with the connector between the pump and the solar panel. If it stops again, I'll just clip of the ends of the wires and connect the 2 devices with a wire nut.Original review:The pump stopped working after just over a month of intermittent use. I tested the solar panel and it's putting out plenty of power. The pump is, apparently, just crap.

Great little unit!!!
I had to leave town for 3 weeks this summer and do not have a pool service. I live in south Florida so pool circulation is important. I bought this pump and panel, installed and tested it in about 15 minutes. I just turned my pool pump off, super chlorinated the pool and let this little unit do its thing. We got about 10 inches of rain while I was gone and I came back to a perfectly clear pool with just minor algae in a few square feet of the sunniest sections. I installed the panel in the grass next to the pool deck and dropped the pump (with no attachments) near the deep end in about 5 feet of water. You can see a slight boil at the surface when it is running and this little baby kept my 12000 gallon pool from looking like a kids science project after 3 weeks of hot south Florida sun and rain. Highly recommend this unit!!!!

Works great and as good as the old pump
needed to replace our 500 gph 120 vac fountain pump with a low voltage model and this one was the only one that was close in volume displacement and head pressure. Purchased with the ALEKO® LM109 Solar Panel so that I would not have to run 200 ft. of power cable.Works great and as good as the old pump. The best part is that it turns itself off at night. No timers or switches.see photos ALEKO® LM109 Solar Panel for Gate Opener 20W...

Pondless Waterfall Feature
Using this to create a pondless waterfall landscape feature. The pump is small, but seems to be powerful enough for my project. You may want to use this system in conjunction with (2) 12V rechargeable batteries in series and a 12/24V charge controller. This will give you a constant 24V of power to the pump so you get maximum flow, and allow you to run the waterfall at nighttime. You will also need another 20W solar panel wired in a series to charge the 24V batteries. Enjoy!
