Disney Star vs. the Forces of Evil Comics Collection: Deep Trouble Paperback – Import, 28 February 2017

I had purchased this comic trade based on my enjoyment of the cartoon. I am currently in the middle of season 2 and felt like seeing what other Star products there might be out there. The comic has some weird short comings, but overall is pretty decent in spirit of the show. Let's check out my bullet points.Pros:1. Illustration is very clean and a perfect representation of the show. A lot of other cartoon to comic adaptions seem to take weird artistic liberties with the characters likeness - Regular show for instance.2. The tone is mostly right on with the show. Didn't get as many laughs out of me, but it was enjoyable.Cons:1. The stories within are a bit of a mess, a least read as a collected work. Pony head is on trial is the opening and closing stories. Then we have a story with Star's parents from the past and a story about Glosseryck in between the trial. There is hardly any connection between any of the stories except for Star and Marco jumping from scene to scene. These stories would work fine on their own, but I feel like they are weak when trying to segue into each other.2. The book is weirdly shrunk down. Compared to the loose comic, you loose about an inch from the top and about half an inch on the side. You still get a fair representation of the story, but everything is tinier. ( I will upload some pics for comparison)3. Because of the shrinking and strange formatting of the trade paper back, images are often cut off on the outer margins or are so far in the binding you practically get a cut off image as well. (see pictures for comparison)4. In the trade version, many SFX noises are added that weren't present in the original comic. Also, formatting of word bubbles and typeface was changed as well in a couple of instances. This isn't the worst thing in the world I suppose, more odd than anything else. BUT if you are looking for a true, complete collection of the comics AS IS, then this is not it. This has been altered (SEE PICS)5. The preview of the Cine Story comic line originally in the loose comics is not present in this. I suppose that was left out to motivate you to buy the other volume, but they at least could have had chapter 1 as a preview in the back.So I guess I would recommend this to a fan looking to pick up the comics on the cheap. You probably save about $5.00 this way. However, for the hard core fans, I would say do yourself a favor and get the four loose issues. You reading enjoyment will be much higher.

Los cómics están de lo mejor, llegó antes de tiempo como siempre y bien empacado.

The comic itself was awesome, even better than some episodes in the show. However, it does leave you on a cliffhanger due to the next comic parts being cancelled due to bad sales. That WAS REALLY ANNOYING as I did not know this when I bought it.

Oh no, Pony Head! Someone has it out for that magic equine! Star puts herself on the line to prove her friend's innocence. Even going as far to try to travel back and catch the culprit. Between time travel mishaps and Glossaryck's craziness, she is going to need some help. It's a very enjoyable comical read that would be amazing in a min arc of the show. I hope (and can't wait) they will continue and solve the mystery in volume 2!

Esta es una serie de comics que representa la esencia primigenia de la serie Star vs the Forces of Evil. Podemos notar la locura de Star, y el clásico modo de vivir con esfuerzos infructuosos que se evitarían si Star simplemente hiciera uso de la simple y cómoda lógica, pero así no es la princesa Butterfly. Ella quiere aventuras. Y sólo por eso vale la pena adquirir esta colección. Expresiones faciales extravagantes, comportamiento exuberante, viajes al pasado -donde podemos ver a una joven Moon Butterfly ser blanco de diversas conspiraciones de monstruos- y sobre todo chistes. Vale la pena comprar esto. De hecho ya lo tenía, pero compré otro porque lo voy a regalar en un concurso que haré en este mes de mayo del 2017. Me gusta mucho la serie.
