Exceptional story of the importance of football in the South
When I tell people I read this book they are very surprised as I attended a competing school and would not allow my children to attend Ole Miss for race issues. But that would be small minded to not enjoy the history of an exceptional Southern American family.I throughly enjoyed reading this memoir from Archie about his life and journey to sports. He is an exceptional human being with many fine qualities. It's all here: 1. His feelings of the college game, 2. Inducements he may have received at Ole Miss, 3. His feelings of race, 4. life in the NFL, and 5. the good and bad of Southern passion for football and how it effected the recruiting of his sons.Peyton also wrote some sections and did an excellent job. It's interesting to read his perceptions on such subjects as confrontations with coaches as well as his Tn freshman competition with Brandon Stewart. The story shows his passion and obsession with football and reading some of his stories, you can see where he probably generated some enemies amongst his teamates. He closes one chapter with thoughts of the college game and whether eventually there will be minor league pro teams.Cooper Manning comes off as the star. What a great guy. You can see Cooper knew how to charm parents, classmates and his parents.Eli is projected as a quiet, shy kid much like Archie and Olivia is the rock of the family.I strongly recommend this book if you like football, southern culture, or stories about inspiring American families.

MANNING
I am a huge fan of Peyton Manning...After reading the book I remain so...It was interesting to learn the mechanics of college football and the NFL draft. I was also surprised to learn of the total obsession for football in this family, to the exclusion of almost everything else. Seems a tad bit unhealthy and one dimensional. Peyton had the good fortune to be born into a successful family and his mother was the daughter of a very wealthy man, so he had the benefit of not having to worry about anything except what he wanted to do, which was play football. I grew a little weary of the positive, positive, positive, seemed too good to be true. I got the impression that Archie Manning couldnt carry on a conversation about anything except football. The book sort of bogged down a little and got a little weary to read. That being said, they are a loving family who has made a name for themselves as well as a boatload of money and its nice to see this happen to decent people with no bad press, no drugs and all the other negatives we read too often about football players. Peyton Manning still remains to me "poetry in motion".

Manning: A Father, His Sons and a Footbal Legacy
I liked this book because it showed the power of the love of a family. Cooper, Peyton and Eli understand the ups and downs of professional football from experiencing their father went through. It is wonderful to read about the closeness of their family and know the boys always know who to go to for the strength to get through. It was also good to know they were normal -not perfect but good nornal--boys growing up. I liked knowing about their faith in God and to know how much they individually and as a family give back to those in need. We read so many negative things about football players that it was uplifting to know this family really cares about family, those in need and the reputation of professional athletes. What good roll models for the aspiring athletes!

Great read!!!!!
Just received the book and haven't been able to put it down. The Manning family has gone through so much dealing with happiness and total tragedy at times. Their faith and love for their family is so strong even with football in their daily lives. You will definitely read Archie Manning's life and realize faith what was had to hold him together after his dad'ssuicide and realizing he was forced the hand of growing up fast, but being their for his boys completely after he became a father. For a family that stays quiet about their personal lives, it was great reading. It's so refreshing NOT to hear every detail of their personal lives as Hollywood Stars and other Sport Players do for attention every day. A very humble family indeed.Pictures were very nice to see, as well as reading about the Manning boys in their younger years to the present.Great book to read, order was received within three daysand the price was great.

Beat Gift EVER
I ordered this book for $5 including shipping, thinking it would be a sweet stocking stuffer for my significant other. He is a die hard Colts Fan, and Peyton Manning is the reason he loves football. I was SHOCKED when the book came in pristine condition and certified with an autograph from both Peyton and Archie Manning. I won Christmas on accident this year! 😍 He absolutely loves the book, and is already engrossed and overjoyed.

In depth book
Enjoyed the inside stories of the Manning’s. And also to get an inside look at how they perceive situations and communicate or react in a constructive manner.

Great story of Archie Manning and early career of Peyton
I can remember watching Archie play and was always impressed by his character on and off the field. This is a great book if you want to learn about Archie from his high school days, through college, professional football and the values he and his wife instilled in their three children. It does cover Peyton through childhood, up through his years at Tennessee,. It only covers his first two years with the Colts. It does cover Peyton`s older brother Cooper, but not a whole lot about Eli, mostly due to his age at the writing of this book. After reading this I have even more respect for the Manning family and highly recommend this book.

Want A Sequel
I loved this book. And I am a middle aged woman, so that tells you something about the accessible writing style. Archie is the lead writer in this story, and he and Peyton take turns talking about the joy of sports, the complicated business of football (college and pros), and their lives as a football family. The story ends two or three seasons after Peyton signed with the Colts and Eli was still in college. There really needs to be at least one more book in the series, perhaps written in the same format, by Peyton and Eli. They have so much more to tell about the next several years.
