Auto Rewind Extension Cord Reel, 30-Feet Heavy Duty 14/3 AWG

The power strip for my computer components is full and not easy to access anyway, so where to plug in my external drive and scanner? This little unit offers unexpected advantages. The next closest outlet is across the entrance into the room and is accessible, but when I'm doing a backup, which takes forever, I really hate having the flimsy cord to the external drive stretched across there because I'm afraid I'll trip on it. Same with the scanner. My goal was to have a place to plug in things used occasionally and only plug in the reel when one of them needs power. This saves me deciphering which cord belongs to the gadget I want to use each time. Not only is that working perfectly, the cord to the reel is thick and heavy enough to lay flat on the floor. It's very visible even against my dark green carpet and is far less likely to be a tripping hazard.The little reel itself is compact and sits up against my desk, out of the way too. I can coil the excess cords to my various components into a neater package and secure them so they aren't trailing around looking awful. My office looks more tidy and my tripping hazard is greatly reduced when the extra items are in use. When I'm not using any of them, I can unplug the reel and press the top button to retract its cord. Very pleased with this purchase.

I was really looking for a 50-foot reel, but the one I had my eye on was manual and not automatically retracting. 30-feet happens to be the absolute minimum length for my garage, but I do have two power outlets to switch to, in order to offset the distance factor.I primarily purchased this reel to use with my vacuum, while cleaning my cars in my 3-car garage. When it arrived, I was actually surprised by how compact and lightweight the unit is. I expected a unit that was heavy and bulky, so this was a pleasant surprise. It also feels good in the hand and looks and feels both solid and well made.It works exactly as advertised and expected, and the cord retracts quickly and accurately.In conclusion, I'm glad I went with this retracting reel and I highly recomment it.Update:About two months ago (June of 15'), this thing was hooked up to my home theater and started causing power shorts, right up to the point where it shorted itself out and died!Waste of money!

I bought this in March. There aren't that many extension cords that use the male end as the extendable part. I built a cart for use in my woodworking shop. I wanted to be able to plug into a wall outlet and then move the cart where it is needed. Then I can plug in my tool(s) right where I need to use them.The concept is great, the execution leads a little to be desired. First of all, is something I should have checked before purchasing it. Some of my tools pull more than the 15A and so pop the breaker. So I don't fault the cord for that.The second thing is a design flaw. There is a stop that is attached to the extension cord. I would think that it should be designed to stop the cord from retracting to a certain spot. For example, When not in use across my shop, I have a spot where the cart just sits. While it is sitting there I still use my shop vac which is also located in the cart, so I like to have the cart plugged in. well since the stop is too loose I can't keep it extended at a minimum length. But, I could live with that.The next part though, is just plain a straight up failure. One day the outlets just stopped working. The lighted switch says that there is power getting to it. I tried pushing the orange breaker button with no joy. I tried each of the outlets with no success at all.At this point I want to say Kudos to Amazon. My no questions asked 30 day return window was closed long ago. However the cord had a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. The warranty said to return it to place of purchase. I told that to the Amazon customer service agent and just like that he offered to send me a prepaid UPS label and that they would refund my purchase. Which the did immediately.So although I give the product 1 star, I give one more just for the typically great Amazon Customer Service.And before I hear from all of you saying that I am rating more than just the cord, I am rating my entire experience with it.BTW Kudos to

I have never written a review about an extension cord reel before, but I just had to for this product. What can I say? This product is simply amazing! It is everything I ever wanted in a product like this. It has great design and the utility of it is awesome.I only have one minor quibble about the handle. I wish there was a little more space for me under the handle to insert my fingers. But everything else is perfect. The 30-foot cord gives one plenty of reach. I like the integrated 4 outlets that can be switched on and off as well as the built-in circuit protection.And the cool part, when you are done... you press a button and the cord automatically retracts!I will probably end-up purchasing some of their other cord / outlet configurations as well. Now, I can have access to power where ever I may need it.

I use this when I go out to play my bass guitar. The power strip portion worked perfectly and I had no problem powering my Hartke LH1000 Bass Amp head and a few other items to this power strip. It worked great and I saw no issues with the power strip portion. The only thing that could have been better is the auto-rewind portion of it (which was a major selling point for me as a traveling musician). It does rewind, but not as effortlessly as the video suggest. It takes a bit of coaxing to get it to rewind (making sure the cable is perfectly angled to travel into the hole for the cable and occasionally having to push the cable in so it can continue rewinding the cable). All in all a decent product but improvements on the rewind capability can and should be made. For the price it was not a bad purchase but the thing that made it stand out from other similar products (auto-rewind) is where they could have done a little better.
