Friendly Defenders: Catholic Flash Cards
H**L
For use with questions posed by Protestants only
This deck is very good for helping children know how to โalways be ready to give an answerโ about the Faith. However, the questions posed are only likely to come from Protestants. My family lives in a very unchurched and multi-faith area, so these are not particularly relevant for my kids, although good knowledge to have on hand anyway. I like the cards, just wish they had any pertaining to questions asked by atheists, agnostics, or those of non-Christian faiths.

Solid AND Fun Catechesis
We will definitely buy the second set of these soon, as we have thoroughly enjoyed working through the first deck. My sons are 9 and 6, and love taking turns practicing the responses and looking up the Bible passages listed at the bottom of each card. They begged me to get the second set, and I don't have to be told twice. Thank you for this wonderful catechetical tool!

Simple and easy
Great for kids and adults. Very simple and informative. Easy to digest small bits of information/answers for each question. Categorized for easier understanding. On the top left corner of ours, the deck has hole-punched place for a large key-ring so the cards can more easily be kept together. (There is NOT a ring included, just a ring hole.)

Absolutely wonderful!!!
These flash cards are wonderful for apologetics, but just a great way to learn about the faith. I am using them with my 11 year old daughter in homeschool and my husband as well.Having converted to Catholicism, I already had many of the questions answered for me, but my children and husband are all cradle Catholics and never really encounter these questions. When they ask me, I answer their questions, but really how often do people ask these kinds of things?I would recommend these for RCIA classes too. They're amusing enough with the cartoons and so friendly that you would never feel like you were attacking anyone else's faith.I will have to get the 2nd set (available in September 2005).

Great apologetics for kids, but more for defending the Faith against Protestants, not atheists/agnostics
These flash cards provide good apologetics for kids; however, I thought they would deal more with agnostic/atheist arguments against Catholicism... these defenses are more for kids who face opposition from Protestant believers.I'm a little disappointed because our neck of the woods is more agnostic/atheist/New Age as opposed to Protestant Christian. However, I am still very happy with the flash cards - the answers are very clear and straightforward, and provide verses from Scripture.

Okay
I was excited about these because a mom in my homeschool forum said she uses it for dinner conversations with her kids. I just think the talking points are so weak. If you are brand new to Catholicism, it would be good but my 7-year-old gets them all no problem so it's really easy stuff you can teach from using the 1st grade catecism.

Great for teaching CATHOLIC TRUTH.
Great conversation starters for your Catholic children. And they are in line with the Catechism. now if only Catechism classes addressed these issues less children would be scared to proclaim their faith. Worked wonders with my 5 kids ages 7 to 15. These open the door to great teaching. Buy them. Also get version #2.

Not very useful as they were intended for laminating
Unsure why but they are all hole punched but do not include a ring. Not very useful as they were intended for laminating.
