This is probably the most useful book about UI design for speech applications I've seen, very sensible and straight forward, with the right amount of attention given to a good range of topics.I hate the term 'VUI' because it sounds silly when you say it. Apart from that, this book's a great source for UI workers.

Excellent quality

This is the best book I have seen so far on design of voice user interfaces with a lot of sound examples and pratical advices.

I read this book in preparation for a series of job interviews in the VUI field.It primed me very well by setting accurate expectations for the things a VUI designer brings to the table, exposed the challenges they faced and informed me on best practices and solutions to common problems. By the time I was done I felt like an insider.Now that I got the job and have been at it for several years, I can confidently recommend this book to any new or prospective voice designers.The authors' writing is a great testimony to their own abilities as designers - all the aspects of a complex specialization are gradually laid out with clarity and interest, and the book as a whole reads without obstacles.Many thanks to the authors for sharing their craft in so accessible a form.
