It seemed to be unpredictable if if would work the first time. Seemed rather tricky to work with. Then finally quite working altogether after only about 3 months. When it worked, it worked well.

PRIMA Cholesterol and Triglycerides 2 in 1 Home Test vs. CardioChek Cholesterol Analyzer Kit
Both the PRIMA kit and CardioChek kit do the same things: measure your triglycerides and total cholesterol. However, only the Cardiochek also measures your HDL cholesterol (subsequently, to get your LDL cholesterol, just subtract you HDL cholesterol from total cholesterol). They both pretty much expect you to do the same thing in the same way:1, Put in the required microchip (comes with purchase) for the test you are running.2. Lance yourself to collect a drop of blood (the amount of blood required is a bit more than the blood needed to test your blood glucose, but not substantially so). (Make sure you disinfect before and after lancing!)3. Put the droplet of blood on the test strip....and then wait for your results! Here is a detailed breakdown of the the two:1. ACCURACY: This is the most important thing, obviously. While these devices are definitely not as accurate as your doctor's office or a lab like Quest where they draw a tube of your blood, I find that the readings these devices take are consistently within 20 units of the official blood lab result I get. I find that neither device is more accurate than the other--sometimes I have a higher reading on the PRIMA compared to the CardioChek by 20 units or so, and sometimes I have a higher reading on the CardioChek compared to the PRIMA by 20 units or so. I have done this multiple times comparing the two at the same time, using blood at the same puncture site on my fingers many times, as well as using blood at the same time but different puncture sites on different fingers many times. You definitely do not want to use these devices to diagnose whether or not you have high cholesterol or high triglycerides and should not take them as seriously as your doctor's results. However, they are pretty useful for just checking your overall status in between blood draws or in between doctors visits to track whether or not your diet and exercise is generally causing your cholesterol/triglycerides to go down.2. PRICE OF REFILLS: You can get 25 strips of a single test for the PRIMA for ~$50.00 on Amazon. Meanwhile, you can get 3 strips of a single test for the CardioChek at ~$15.00 on Amazon. This comes out to about $2.00 per test for the PRIMA and $5.00 per test for the CardioChek. Keep in mind I am talking about a SINGLE test--so if you want to check your triglycerides, HDL, AND total cholesterol, that is THREE tests. These refills are not cheap!3. SIZE: The PRIMA is a LOT smaller and easier to carry around if you need to do so.4. BATTERIES: The CardioChek runs on AAA batteries--and it is really a battery guzzler that has me switching out AAA batteries pretty frequently, despite me even taking out the AAA batteries from the device when not using. The PRIMA runs on two special lithium 3V type CR2032 batteries, which are rarer to find, but easily found on Amazon.5. SPEED: Both the CardioChek and the PRIMA give me results in about the same amount of time after I put a droplet of blood on the test strip. The PRIMA requires less blood than the CardioChek, but not significantly less.BOTTOM LINE: Both the CardioChek and the PRIMA do exactly what I purchased them to do. The PRIMA was not popular or on Amazon when I initially purchased the CardioChek, but if I could go back I would purchase the PRIMA instead of the CardioChek just because the device itself and the refills are much cheaper. While the CardioCheck certainly does a good job, I just cannot find any reason to justify paying its significantly higher refill prices. The PRIMA is the way to go unless CardioChek reduces its refill prices.HOWEVER, only the CardioChek measures your HDL cholesterol (and by extension your LDL cholesterol after subtracting HDL cholesterol from total cholesterol). The PRIMA only measures your total cholesterol. If a detailed breakdown of your LDL vs HDL cholesterol is important to you, the CardioChek may be your better option.

The machine does not work shows an error - I wrote to the supplier he never replied --- all the five strips I used and still showed an error -- And I got a stroke -- these machines are not games -- the suppliers are so irresponsible about people' life and health -- SHAME on them.

The cholesterol strips work fine.
The triglyceride strips did not work, so I bought a batch of 25 and those do not work either. The cholesterol strips work fine.

Found it easy to use
Found it easy to use. However the Prima meter gave me a total cholesterol reading of 168. On the same day, I had blood taken at the lab and a total cholesterol reading of 139 was given.

Amazing little device. Easy to use. Highly recommended.
Very easy to use if you read the manual and follow the directions. I am very pleased with it. I suspect that the people who are complaining about failed tests and errors were not following all the directions properly. It only requires a small drop of blood and returns results in a couple of minutes. Very small and compact. Everything fits nicely into the carrying case. Additional testing strips are very reasonably priced compared to other test meters. Shipping was very fast. 5 star seller and 5 star product.

the system works well and is easy to use. I am not sure how accurate it is and won't know untilI get a blood test from my doctor. Hopefully the results will be similar.

Not reliable
I have been using kit for about 4 months taking cholesterol measurements every other week. The results spread between 5.9 and 3.7 inclusive. Before going for lab blood test I measured total cholesterol level using Prima device. The difference between lab result and home one is 12%. I consider this kit as useless. Two stars because triglycerides results seems to be ok.
