Kills
Works great this is my second one. If done as instructions states they will die. No smell, my dog and my horse sniff at it and left it alone. Uninterested.

Easy and effective...
This ant bait seems expensive, but that's because it works. Unlike a lot of the things you can pick up in the stores, this product is made to effectively cover a large area to stop fire ants and keep them away.Fire ants are scavengers, so broadcasting this treats that location and a bit of the surrounding area because nearby ants will wander in to find food and take this back to their nest as well.We had an area covered with ant mounds, both small and large. We noticed a reduction in about a week. After the second week, the area was clear. We spread this in mid-March. As of the beginning of August, we have still seen very few ants in the entire area. The smell isn't very strong considering the power of the product. If you've used a few different pesticides or fertilizers, you've probably come across a few that make you cough from the strength of the smell just by opening the container. It may not be flowers or perfume, but the odor is very mild. It's important to follow the directions. First, use protection when handling the bait. This is a poisonous substance, so take proper precautions. I recommend plastic or vinyl gloves since they're cheap and disposable.Second, this bait should not be used if you expect rain in the next 2-3 days. The longer the dry spell, the better, because rain sours the bait to the point the ants will not take it. It also shouldn't be applied directly to the mounds if you're spot treating. That will cause the ants to move the bait off and ignore it. Give the mound a foot or two of space and sprinkle in a circle around the area. If you're just open broadcasting to cover a large area, it doesn't matter where it lands. The ants will find it and take it.Based on the amount and the recommended coverage, this should easily treat 2-3 acres. The granules are very small, and a lot of the normal cheap spreaders you get will over-apply, even on the lowest setting. I had that issue without knowing it, so I'll be taping over a portion of the feeder holes next time to get proper coverage.FINAL WORD: If you have ants and need to treat a larger area, get this. It works incredibly well, and the effect lasts.

Kills Fire Ants!
I reviewed this item years ago when I first discovered it. It is still the best, most effective fire ant killer on the market. It is somewhat pricey but it beats spending good money on products that give less results. Not only does it wipe out the colony but it KILLS the ants... you don't have the mound getting mad and moving ten feet away to make a new mound. Plus, unlike some other products, you don't have to water this in. Just sprinkle it around the mound and watch. It doesn't take long for the laborers to discover it and begin to take it into the colony to feed the queen and everybody else along the way. The next day there will still be activity, but the ants will be sluggish because they are being EXTINQUISHED!!!! Within days you can knock that hill down and mow over it. Buy it because it works.

Effective but follow the directions
This stuff works fantastic but you absolutely have to follow the instructions provided. If you deviate at all, it wont be as effective on controlling the ants and could even not work at all. Dont use just before or right after a lot of rain, use on undisturbed mounts, if you for example cut the lawn and disturb mounts, then sprinkle this on the mounds, it isnt going to be as effective as when fire ants have their mound disturbed, they tend to move. This needs to be taken into the colony as food for this to work and when the ants are mad, they dont forage for food.

Works really well
This product did really well stopping the spread and killing existing mounds at our farm in the yard area surrounding the house . Follow instructions closely. Try not to disturb the mound and put it own when it won’t rain for several days. It destroys large hills in a short period of time. Would highly recommend.

Works well if you follow directions.
Read the directions and this stuff works. I live in North Georgia and the fire ants are terrible if you don't treat for them. People nearby have mounds every 10 to 20 feet,my yard is free of the pests. The directions say that it needs to be DRY when you put this out,the ants apparently will not take it after it gets damp. Here in the humid south ideal conditions are rare. I get this every spring and wait for a time when it doesn't look like rain for many days, low humidity is good also as a heavy dew can get this stuff wet.My yard is just shy of 2 acres,I go over the whole yard with a light distribution, then go back over the areas where they have been in the past until the whole jug is used. You need to be patient, it takes about 2 weeks to start killing them, after a month the ants and their mounds are GONE!My yard has been mostly free of fire ants for the 4 years that I've used it. I spot treat a mound here and there mostly along my property lines during the late summer and fall. I use a variety of "mound killers" for the ones that pop up.
