Buying for more doors
We put this in to our factory a while back. I am getting two more for 6 more doors. The good:These things once you finish the setup (will say more in the bad) are really great for the price. This particular package uses 13.56MHz (NFC). I know because these are the same units I bought separately. They have others that are 125Hz which are a different technology. You need to get the link and login (its in the reviews/questions on their other products) for the program which took a tiny bit of digging before. It was also on the card in the box. The software is hosted on windows computer. You add your employees and you can see all the doors setup up across your network. When you add an employee to a door it will save the information locally on the board that that door is connected to. This means if you shut down the computer with the software the cards allowed will continue to work. The software also has an API. We have made a simple webpage with a button so people in certain offices can open their door from there PC without having to get up to let people in. The software has live view of the doors so you can see when they are open and closed. It also keeps a log of every person who enters using their badge. I think the log has the last 100,000 records or something like that. The Bad:The software is great once you finally find the link and password (again search their other product reviews/questions and you will find it). I do have one small annoyance that really only matters when you have many doors and employees (we are currently at 5 of these card (1 - 2 door, the others 4 door) and about 15 doors I think. The annoyance comes from groups. They have groups and you can add employees to groups but you cannot add a group to a door set. This means when we have new people or we move people we have to go and add them to the correct doors. This is not too bad because you can copy from one employee to another door information. You can click that employee and easily add and remove doors with side by side lists. But it would be nice to set doors to a group and just add the employees to the allowed groups and set specific doors also if needed.Other Considerations:I did a lot of research on RFID and I had no knowledge before hand. We are using this for daily deterrence in areas where we have more expensive items and we want to deter theft. The software and the board are fine but I would not use the card reader and cards if you want true night security. We lock our doors before leaving. If you want more secure RFID technology you can still get this board just would need to contact another company to get cards and card reader with desfire and your own encryption algorithm. For us these readers work great knowing that fact.
