Fairly complex stuff
Don't buy this as your first drumming instruction book. "Progressive," "Polyrhythms," "Twisting Time" for sure! It is what it says it is, and I'm quite satisfied with it. Challenging! I took up drums in the 70's (before electricity was discovered). 4/4 was pretty much it. Yes, I know there were progressive odd-time bands around, but Deep Purple and Grand Funk weren't big on 7/8 and polyrhythms. :) So this is a real challenge to my encrusted brain cells and muscle memory rhythmic sense. Recommended read and tutorial, though. Talented drummer (not me, the author).

Aaron doesn't waste any of your time.
Straight out of the gate: You're given challenging lines to work on with concise descriptions as to not also be confusing. Each example covers a topic other teachers will typically (over)write in an entire book on. Boring. This one quickly graduates you onto more and more complex material as you read on that will cover all of your playing/reading/improvising's bases (if you spend enough frequent time practicing them, that is). I think this one will only deter you from not practicing, though.

Great Content But No Audio/Video
This book is definitely packed full of really great content but there is no CD, MP3 or video content with it. If we’re dealing with such advanced concepts as are presented in this book, some form of supplemental audio or video material Is pretty much crucial so that the reader understands what the concepts should sound like. Hence my 3 star review. This one point really let’s the book down unfortunately.
