Love Can Be: A Literary Collection about Our Animals

Book touches emotions of any animal lover
What a wonderful book! I laughed, I cried. As one who has never met an animal she didn't fall in love with, I fell in love with these literary figures, also. My favorite was Joyce Carol Oates poem about her cat, though my Romeo took issue with the fact that his species was spelled "d*g". The implication was not lost on him - nor on his sister Midnight, who gloated throughout the reading. I recommend it to anyone whose soul has been awakened by an animal of any species. I thank all the contributors whose labors went to help animals in distress.

Definitely buy this book!
Highly recommend. Nice collection of stories - some happy, some sad. Some are disconcerting, some are funny and some are comforting, but that is the nature of life.Definitely worth a read and as a bonus, proceeds benefit animal non-profits

Nuggets of Love
I got my copy before Thanksgiving and I've started reading one entry each morning with my coffee. Such an inspirational way to start the day. I tear up a bit, so I do it before makeup!

great book...touching stories
This is a wonderful book with short stories about all sorts of animals and how our love for them enriches our lives. Because the stories are short, it's an easy read!

Sure to touch your heart
Love Can Be: A Literary Collection about Our Animals is a limited edition that consists of poetry, stories, memorials, and reminiscences by a wide ranging group of authors about animals. All net proceeds go to various animal charities. There's a lot to enjoy in this collection. Most are bite sized and one or more could be read during a lunch hour, or while waiting on/for whatever or whomever. The stories that stood out for me, and yes-made me smile through tears (which isn't ideal at work) were:Dogly Prayers and Wishes by Jill McCorkle. Yep, made me cry while remembering my own past special dogs who came at just the right time, like lil angels.Dog Memory by Susan Orlean really made me cry as it reminded me of my most recent loss, Tommy. And last, but certainly not least, The Emperor Maxie by Diane Rehm. Who hasn't loved an ornery cantakerous pet?Whether you buy to help out the charities, because you love animal stories or know someone who does, or any combination thereof, one or more of the offerings is sure to touch your heart.

Some of these stories had me in tears
When I was offered a copy of this book review I of course, accepted. Everyone knows about my love for animals. At first I thought it was a collection of stories about the contributing authors pets however, there are also stories about encounters with wild animals as well. There are a great variety of animals written about which makes this book more exciting. I have to say however, that I found a few of the stories just plain boring. That said, I did enjoy most of the stories and there were quite a few that had me in tears.‘Love Can Be’ is dedicated in memory of Joan Kirkpatrick, an Oklahoma animal advocate and daughter of the founders of the Kirkpatrick Foundation. She passed away in 2009 but the foundation is still going strong. The processed for this book will go to animal rescue organizations in Oklahoma and other animal related organizations. There are a lot of pets and wildlife in need so be sure to pick up a copy of this book and donate to your favorite animal welfare organizations, if you can.
