If you are looking for a somewhat cute Christmas story that is very loosely adjacent to the story of Saint Nicholas, this book could be for you. If you are wanting to actually teach your kid(s) “the origin of St. Nicholas”, as is said in the description for this book, you will need to look elsewhere. There’s nothing wrong with the book, so I can’t really give it fewer than three stars, but I am quite disappointed.

Bought for a child who was questioning if Santa was real

Very cute, but not what I was looking for. My 19 month old really loved the illustrations, but I had hoped this was the true story of St. Nicholas. It is not. It’s a fictionalized version that pulled a few elements from the historical story, but I think that’s just confusing. I’d rather my kids learn about the historical figure.

This story explains Santa in such a wonderful way.

Super cute, couldn't read it in my achool though because it is heavily religious. To be fair, those are the roots of St. Nicholas. I ended up gifting it to a family member who loved it.

I saw the positive reviews and didn't read the reviews themselves so that's on me. If you don't celebrate "the birth of Jesus", or believe that the only way a person can be kind to others is through prayer, don't buy it. If you don't want your kids to have a huge downer of a book where the child characters parent DIE, don't buy it. If you don't want to have to explain a dowry to a 5 year old, or why a little girl's only aspirations is to also be able to marry, don't buy it. Needless to say, it was returned.

Beautifully written and illistrated

The media could not be loaded.  I always loved this story. I bought this book to give it to my nephew as my son had the same when he was a little boy. Highly recommend it! Thank you

It was an expensive download and difficult to read on kindle. The illustrations were good though. Difficult to read on iphone x

A charming story about St Nicholas with beautiful illustrations. A perfect read for the Advent and Christmas season as well as a reminder of the importance of giving and the joy to be found in it.

My boys enjoyed this story and forgot it was a story in a story! A lovely story of giving and what Christmas is all about.

This was sent to my grandson Nicholas, 2 years 6 months, for his saints day. The book is beautifully written and set out just as he enjoys books being read to him, with lovely illustrations so that he can discuss them.
