Naked nuts
These Brazil nuts are a little different in two ways: taste and texture.TASTE: Most Brazil nuts I’ve eaten have a taste that’s a little hard to describe, an “earthy” sort of taste, maybe slightly bitter, or metallic, or something. If that taste doesn’t appeal to you, you may like these Brazil nuts. A surprise was that they are practically skinless [i.e. naked], almost totally white, instead of some white among the patches of the dark skin. I assume this is the reason for the milder taste, the lack of that stronger earthy taste. Maybe the explanation for the taste difference is that the other Brazil nuts I’ve eaten are of a lesser quality than these Food to Live nuts.TEXTURE: This is a little harder to describe. Brazil nuts are naturally dense; these nuts seem just a little less dense, easier to crunch, not quite as hard. They still have a good crunch, a nice bite, but I can eat more of these nuts faster (not a good thing!). Bottom line: These nuts are not quite as hard, not as dense as other Brazil nuts I’ve eaten, and they have a milder flavor. I think many people would love that and happily give 5 stars. I miss the harder crunch and slightly bitter taste, so 4 stars instead of 5. BUT (and very important) they are non-GMO (Genetically Modified), they are large, high quality nuts, and I liked the price - so, I would be tempted to order them again.

Pretty good, made great nut milk!
I got these and immediately sampled a handful. About every third nut had a slightly odd flavor. Not bad, just not quite as good as the others and lacking that familiar brazil nut taste. Maybe that's the sign of an old nut? Not sure. I'm mostly using them for nut milk, however, so it it's not big a deal for me. The nut milk turned out incredible!! I will probably try a different brand next time, but it seems all the brands on Amazon have similar mixed-bag reviews.Lastly, they DID come in the bag shown: a nice, thick freezer-proof bag with zip top, unlike some other reviewers have commented.

Damn, that's a lot of nuts!!!!
Not sure I had a good frame of reference for what 4 lbs of Brazil nuts would like but this is a BIG bag!! No worry though, if you put them in the fridge, they will continue to last. I eat about 6 of them per day to get my daily selenium intake(be careful not to eat too many though for fear of ODing on selenium). The nuts are good and I'll likely buy a new bag once I get through the one I have now.

Smoother texture and subtler taste than store-bought Brazil nuts
As some other reviewers have mentioned, these have a different taste and texture than those purchased elsewhere. Prior to buying this bag, I had only bought Brazil nuts at local health food stores. These are a smoother texture than the store-bought ones, and these also have a more subtle flavor to them than the store-bought ones. It's an individual choice on which taste one prefers. I do slightly prefer the stronger taste of the store-bought ones over these, but for me, the price of the Food to Live brand outweighs the taste differences.

HUGE bag of goodness!
Not sure what to say except these are great. I bought a smaller package last time. My husband ended up liking them, too, so I bought the larger. I have read that one is day is all anyone should eat. However, I have a thyroid issue and eat more than that--but not daily. I actually can tell a difference in how I feel. I tested by going one month with none and noticed I was tireder and just overall more bleh. So I can say they do help with hypothyroid--even if you are on medication for it.

THE GOOD ONES WERE REALLY GOOD. . .
The good nuts in this bag were really good; unfortunately, I returned them after realizing approx. 1 in every 4 - 5 were rancid. I reordered the 5lb Sincerely Nuts brand which are ok but not as good as the good ones in this brand (more chipped 'n broken pieces 'n not as fresh out of shell taste). Although it'll be a long while before I'll need to reorder (5lbs kept in freezer @ 3-4 nuts per day to help prevent underactive thyroid), when I do I'll give Food to Live another try.
