whht is the size that goes into the eye of the axe head?

The size is approx 1 3/4" x 5/8" And it is a triangular shaped oval with the smaller part to the back. I love this handle it just has the right feel to get a good swing. All hammers area little different this handle is made for the stilleto hammer but it also fit my California framing hammer with a little sanding. I used my die grinder with a roloc sanding disc to fit it just right. I used a candle to blacken the inside of the hammer head to see where I needed to sand and after a couple of minutes I had a perfect fit.

Can this be use to replace a fiberglass handled stiletto

Yes..the Stilletto hammer head is the same.

Is it only 16 ounces?

This is just the handle, the hammer head is not included. The hammer head it fits is a 14 oz, Stlletto tool Co., titanium hammer head, If you do not have this specific hammer head, you may wish to select a more universal handle.
