Good, for a TV programme, but not necessarily worth owning a hard-copy
A surprisingly low-key release this for the BBC Daft Punk documentary. This is the French edition - which means that all of the blurb on the cover and the enclosed booklet is in French. The documentary itself includes the "English" version - but that's just a matter of subtitling, as the contributors are all either French- or English-speaking. So if you don't speak French don't worry."Unchained" is basically a 1 hour 20 minute history of Daft Punk from their beginnings as Darlin' to the latest LP Random Access Memories . Good to see that their Soma Records period is featured; less good to see that the late Romanthony, who made such a contribution to the band's success, doesn't even get a mention. The DVD also features new interviews from the usual suspects Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Todd Edwards, Nile Rodgers to name a few. There are also contributions from some of the band's French associates. All the segments with Guy-Man and Thomas themselves are archive - there's little or nothing you won't have seen before. The extras comprise further outtakes from the documentary (not sure why they didn't just leave these in the main feature?) as well as the trailer. All in all, interesting enough, but contains little band footage fans won't already have seen and the rest is of passing interest only. This is however a very well presented set. The single disc comes in a hardback book case with a removable inner book and a mini-poster.But unless you're a Daft Punk collector, I'd probably just wait until it comes on BBC4.

Should not be on a UK site…
This is not made clear that it is a German version of the documentary. Because the native audio is in French and English - 95% of people will need English subtitles… which it doesn’t have. It does however have German audio and German subtitles. Whoop de do. Typical German manouvre.
