good for the price - smartphone update due?
A present for my daughter, who is recording 'oral history' interviews for her research. She is using her Samsung S8 phone, and says the quality achieved (in the first 'proper' interview) is very good. Of course, this 'set-up' is very much at the bottom end of the range of fabulously priced voice-recording equipment that could be used ... but not by an impoverished DPhil student!NOTE TO DESIGNERS: The current cable length/split seems to have been set for someone using a non-portable recording device. The final distance between the microphones is only just about enough, and you don't need such a long pre-split cable length if it's connected to a small smartphone tucked into the interviewer's pocket (etc.). What about a smartphone-specific product update?! I think that's where your biggest market opportunity is!!

Better than nothing, but nowt to write home about.
If you're currently using a mic built into a webcam / on the front of your laptop; or have a Skype headset with some awful bandwidth filtering, then this will be an improvement. But for the price, don't expect high quality. For dictating notes and zoom meetings it'll be fine. But in comparison to a decent lapel microphone, the sound from this is muffled and has a quiet pickup, meaning you will get a lot of background noise if you need to increase the gain in post production. The head is large, so not good for appearing in shot if you're trying to record a professional looking video.

Serves its purpose
I got this for myself to use while streaming on twitch and it sounds pretty good. The microphone is quite sensitive to noise so if you live next to a busy road you will hear the outside noise when replaying the recording.I was surprised to see that the microphone works fine when pronouncing hard S or P. +1points on that.PS. if you use it and for some reason, the battery dies, all you have to do is twist slowly and unscrew the middle part. It uses watch batteries

It's tricky but it works
Initially I though it wasn't going to work as it didn't work with my smartphone, which is an Asus, although it worked with my Mac Book Air. I wrote to the seller and told him my issue and he replied quickly but had no solution, then I decided to return it. However, while I was reading reviews for another product, I came across one that had the same issue as mine with the other mic and he wrote about the way he found a solution. I tried it and it worked for me as well. It is simple, you need to start recording without the mic, and then, plug it into your smartphone and it'll recognize the external mic and record pretty well.

Great little mic
Bought this to use with a small audio FX unit and mini-amp on vocals & harmonica, therefore needing the in-line battery power (not required for phones which supply power through the jack connector). Works well, nicely finished and decent sound for speech as well as my musical dabbling.

Amazing little mic for it's low price
I bought this for streaming as I didn't have a lot to spend. I was amazed at the quality of this thing. Audio comes through loud, clear, and without any distortion. 100% would recommend if you're not looking for a cardioid mic.

Not 20 foot
Ignore the bit in the description that says 20 foot cable in large letters, instead focus on the 2m cable in small writing...Haven't tried the mic as the cable is too small for what I need. Will be sending it back.

No excessive plosives
Currently adding intros/outros to professional video of my own ski teaching on bobski.com. Professional film maker confirms perfectly good enough quality from this mic.
