Works great.....but
You can watch a video to show how to put it on. But you need about 4- 4/12 inches of 1" shaft past the door angles. If not, then you'll need to take the torque springs and cable pulleys loose from the shaft and move the shaft over (as I did). And if you're not a "handy" person, this could be more than you can or need to attempt. Chain is split link, so you can just pry it open, and reconnect it to get the length you want. Works great once installed though!!!!

Good product
Just installed. Works like a champ. Installed it on a 14x14 insulated shop door with out solid spring rod. This door is very heavy and not easy to open for my wife. The chain hoist has made it so much easier to open. The only down fall is there are no instructions, but its easy to figure out and install just use common since.

Works but needs instructions
I installed this a couple of weeks ago. The unit works but came with "0" instructions. Not too hard to figure out how to mount it however the installer needs to know that to close the door (I installed it on a 12X14' pole barn door} you should pull the rope on the door or install push down springs {which I did} to help the door get started back down and keep the cables tight. Without the springs or pulling on the rope to close the door you most likely will have a door crash as the cables become loose.

Works great.
Added this unit to my external garage where I don't have any power supply. Was able to install this unit and now can easily open and close the door with little to no effort. Prior to installing it you had to manually man handle the door and push it up by using the door supports. Doable but it was getting difficult for my 70 + year old family members to do. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was that it came with no instructions, I had to go on-line and print them off, may have even been a different suppliers document? Also my Garage Door had a hollow shaft, I believe the instructions stated it to be used with a solid shaft and needs a keyway. My father is pretty handy and we were able to design a shaft that was inserted into the hollow shaft and left a 4-5" extended 1" shaft with a 1/4" keyway in it to mount the unit to. This extension piece was the missing link to make the installation possible, without it I would not have been able to install and use this unit. Perhaps there are other options out there for hollow shaft mounting, but I was able to make this work. Not sure how the average home owner would be able to cut a 1/4" key way on an installed garage door to get these to work.

Installed Easy - even without instructions.
Seems well built and works really nice. I could not open this door all the way before I installed it, now it is easy and my wife can do it.

Good Quality Old School and it Works.
I went through two popular electric jack shaft models for an 18' x 9' garage door, expensive. This one was inexpensive, we all like it even my wife and daughter. This is used for a door that is not a main door and is usually opened for ventilation and occasionally to take a car out. Its not electric but it works.
