Great, except only 1 remote can be used with linked split bases
I've had this base for about a month now and am loving it. I had assumed some of the features weren't going to be used much but I was wrong. I've never had anything like this before so it was all new to me. Adjusting the bed to read or watch tv is great and now the most comfortable seat in the house. I thought the massage feature wouldn't be used much but I find myself using it almost every time I go to bed and sometimes when I wake up and want a little more time in bed. I was afraid it'd be quite weak but to the contrary I typically only use it on low, I find it quite soothing. I tried this with my old 18" spring mattress and my new 10" casper foam mattress and it feel equally strong on both. There's actually a cutout in the base with some strong elastic straps that pushes the massage motors above the frame a bit so they directly touch the mattress. The wall hugger feature is the main reason I chose this model as I wanted to be able to access my nightstand. While this works it's not as accessible as when flat so a bit of a compromise and better than not having it. One annoyance at least in my case is my mattress is a few inches from the wall so a pillow or something may be in this gap and when you raise the head the item can fall behind the bed and then when you lower the head it gets smashed down below the frame or stuck between the frame and the wall. The CalKing frame is a few inches longer than my Casper mattress so I've yet to find an easy solution to this problem. It doesn't happen as often anymore now that I know to look at for it and make sure no pillows are bridging that gap. Likewise the frame will shift toward the head of the bed so down by the feet there will be a gap. So if you have stuff stacked up leaning against the frame it may move and/or fall under the bed and potentially get smashed against whatever foot side furniture you have. The under bed light is pretty weak but turns out to be good enough in the middle of the night. I've also gotten some use out of the flashlight in the remote. I tested the power usage of the various components and all were surprisingly low. The frame used a bit under 1.5watts doing nothing; technically 3w since I have a split so there are 2 identical frames. The frames motors use about 20-30w for the 10-30sec or so they are active. The motors are very slow but I find that to be a plus as it's easier to stop at an ideal spot and not overshoot it. I actually thought it was broken when I first tried it as it takes a few seconds before anything happens. The massage feature uses 3-13watts depending on strength. Keep in mind these only run 15min and then shut off. Technically you can press the timer button beforehand and up that to 30min. I find this part a bit annoying, I think you should be able to extend the runtime as you are using it, ie 15/30min from the last button push. Another annoyance is that using a preset bed position while the massage is active will turn it off.The USB ports are a nice addition and are located in a pretty good position. Far enough from the head to not be blocked by your nightstand, but not too far that you'll be tripping over anything plugged in. I couldn't get the USB C ports to work with Samsung phones nor a laptop. The phones were stuck at 5v @500ma which is much slower than you'll get from the USB A ports, the laptop just ignored it, it may require something higher than 5v. Perhaps the spec is too new for devices to be fully compatible with it.Delivery took a bit longer than necessary as I didn't realize I had to go to the shipping providers website and schedule an appointment. Presumably they would have eventually called me but you can likely save a week by booking an appointment directly. The CalKing frame arrives in 2 identical pieces, they are heavy but manageable for 2 people to move. Luckily we didn't need to move it up/down stairs, I'd probably pay someone if that was required. Assembly is basically removing it from the box, removing the plastic, plugging in some wires and attaching the legs. You will have to assemble it upside down and flip it. I was worried some of the wires were a bit loose and would be resting on the ground and/or get caught in the moving bits so I better secured them to the frame. While it's only happened once my frames got out of sync and only 1 of the 2 frames would move. Unplugging and replugging fixed that but I lost my memory preset in the process. It's easy to cause this type of sync issue by unplugging the power of only 1 of the frames, so it's possible that's what happened.UPDATE: 10 months later, I'm dropping a star. To fix something above, adding the 9v batteries to the bases fixed my sync issue. Now I can temporarily unplug the bed and/or ride through power outages without losing my settings & sync.I developed a new issue about 6 months in where 1 remote would have issues only with the Head Up button and only on 1 of the bases. One of the bases would cycle on/off, get out of sync, then have to keep running awhile after letting go of the buttton to catch back up. So I called L&P customer service which was great, no wait, no nit picking over the issue. They sent me a new remote which didn't help. The 2nd call was less ideal, spent 15min on hold, but after that was good, they were going to send a repair person. He tried various things before calling customer service himself, he was on hold for about 20min, then it took them about 5min before they decided this was a known issue and that you can't use 2 remotes with 2 linked bases. That contradicts what the manual says on page 12 which we pointed out but it didn't sway them and so that ended the service call. Technically the repairman had both bases working together (w/o issue) from each of the 2 remotes, without the sync cable. So I'll likely replicate that approach as only being able to use 1 remote on a CalKing is not ideal.

Perfect for mom.
The media could not be loaded. We downsized from California king to a queen for my disabled mom. I love the fact the height is adjustable which makes it safer for my mom to get on and off. Also the remote is touch panel vs pressure buttons this as a game changer for my mom. She's had all her joints replaced in her hands 40 years ago therefore she has very little dexterity it strength in her hands. The remote to this bed is so easy for her to use. She actually started crying due to the ease of use. Kinda silly to say this bed has been a blessing but it really has been for my mom.

It's made sleeping a whole lot better!
My husband and I first experienced a Leggett and Platt adjustable base at a Sleep Number store and liked it. But the price was rather high. We found this one which is also a Leggett and Platt on Amazon for $1500 cheaper and are ABSOLUTELY satisfied with the quality. We bought the split king, so the bases are actually two twin frames and they came in two separate boxes. While heavy, they were manageable. My 5'10'' husband and my 5', daughter were able to bring them into the house with no problem. The boxes arrived in perfect condition and the parts that were separate (legs, remote, and motor) were packed well. It took more time to unpack everything and read the instructions then it did to set them up. While my husband would have been able to maneuver and set them up by himself, it was easier with two people. We purchased split king air beds online from Personal Comfort and they fit the base perfectly. The strips on the base to keep the mattress in place do a good job keeping it in place, however we also put on the foot rails as they don't get in the way or cause any problems when putting on sheets. The bedding covers them so they aren't an unsightly attachment. The motor is very quite. The adjustable movement is very smooth. The pre-programmed settings are very helpful. Both my husband I use the Zero Gravity setting just about every night and the Flat button in the morning to return the bed to "bed-making" position. Haven't really figured how to use the programming memory button, but haven't really needed to. Really like the wall hugging feature but haven't really used the bed in that position except to see how it works. It does allow for better access to the night stand than if the head just moved higher. The light under the bed is just the right brightness and a nice touch. I wish the remote lite up before a button was pushed as when I pick up the remote in the middle of the night to change positions (I'm both a back sleeper and a side sleeper), I never know in what position I'm picking up the remote. I usually go for the place where the light button should be so the light comes on but it doesn't bother my husband. We haven't really used the massage. It can be rather loud at the highest setting. My sister-in-law tried it out and she was oohing and aahing. As a matter of fact, after showing the bed to her and all the features, she was ready to go buy one as well. The biggest issue I have with the slip king set-up is changing the sheets. It is two twin beds pushed next to each other. So the beds need to be moved apart each time. They are fairly easy to move although they don't really have a grasping place. I plan to put leg coasters under them the next time we move them to see if it easier than trying to find the right place to grab hold of. All in all, LOVE this adjustable base. I have recommended it over and over again to many people and will continue to do so.
