Dirndl Womens 3-Piece Dirndl with Skirt

I love Bavarian and Austrian Tracht, all year around, not just at Oktoberfest. I bought this dress because I want to incorporate the style more into my everyday outfits. This dress achieves that, but not without some sacrifice.The good:My height being 5'6", the hem of the skirt falls just at my knees..which is a more casual length.The apron is narrower than the more traditional type that cover 180º of your waist.Though the sizing greatly varies between manufacturer, the laced bodice lets you take the chest in if you order too large.The neutral:The front zip under the laced bodice is...odd and cumbersome to use, making the dress harder to get off.The bad:Since I already own a few Dirndl (Dirndls?) I know that the blouse size I take is 2 sizes smaller than the dress size. Unfortunately, the blouse comes in the same size as the dress. So this blouse is too big and doesn't hug my boobs.Speaking of the blouse...the 'cinch' ribbon that creates the plunging effect around your bust is on the top! I have NEVER seen a blouse like that before. It's important for the blouse to cinch from the bottom so that you can tie the bow and hide it under the dress bodice. When it ties at the top you have to hide the ribbon in your cleavage.The dress and apron are made out of a thin, but stiff cotton. It's going to require ironing. Steaming would be even better. The bodice is a double-layer (inside is lined) cotton and the skirt would have benefited from the same design. Because the cotton is light, the skirt doesn't 'fall' or move well. An underskirt or petticoat may help.In summary, the quality is better than a costume, but not as good as authentic brands like Lekra or Original Salzburger.

I’m pretty happy with the purchase. It fits my bust properly, the quality is descent for the price & material (all cotton so it wrinkles!) and the length is perfect-longer than I expected. I have had to sew the rivet things on with furniture fabric thread so that they don’t pop off. I didn’t feel the plastic thread they used would with stand much corset pulling or any washing in warm water---I was right. I do have to undo the corset top quite a bit to get it over my head and the shoulders are rather tight but I tend to have tight shoulder problems with my small bust. Small bust for all cloth people equals small shoulders and no hips. Wrong.If you want a classic, inexpensive dirndl this is perfect! While it would be nice if the bodice was separate from the skirt I’ve not really seen that for inexpensive dirndls online. The shirt is very ruffly and comes to the top of your rip cage par normal for such tops. The apron separate and had the long traditional tails.If you wash it you’ll have to iron it. Or take it out of the dryer quick…10mins in dryer tops. I took a photo of how the lace it back up again since I didn’t want the laces to get caught in the washer.

I initially purchased the Red and Green Dirndl from this vendor in size 42/12. The red embroidered fabric was attractive and the overall quality excellent though the chain was odd. I'm a 10 but sometimes need a 12 in the bust (36D). The waist fit but I was unable to zip it all the way up (or to let it out) thus if you are close to the any of the measurements on the size chart, size up. The return was trouble free as long as you have a printer and you're a reasonable distance from a UPS pickup box.I purchased this Green and Black Dirndl in the next size 44/14. It's adorable, a bit large but in hindsight, I prefer that because it will allow me to move more comfortably as a busy hostess and there's room for a push up-bra though it looks great without it (and if you don't pull the draw string you can minimize cleavage for a modest look). I also prefer that it's 100% cotton because I'll keep my cool if I dance or decide to hoist multiple 1-liter Oktoberfest mugs. The fabric is plain but I'm already thinking of adding a bit of embroidery and ribbon for a Christmas outfit. As soon as I tried it on, I felt festive. I plan to make it worth the $ and I expect to get many years of use. Kudos to the vendor for decent quality and a playful style and also to Amazon for an easy exchange.

I was looking for a costume for work to go with our international theme. I was a little worried that the low-cut blouse wouldn't be appropriate for work but thought I could wear something white under it to cover up a bit more, so I ordered it anyway. I was pleased to find that the front of the blouse actually has a drawstring adjustment - tighten it and it goes down low, loosen it and it covers up modestly. As other reviewers mentioned, the quality is good for the price - cotton with nice metal accents on the lacing. Nothing like the cheesy polyester versions (with the ultra short skirts) that the costume stores sell. The cotton is light weight - but if you're looking for a really high-end dirndl you'll have to pay at least 3 times the price! The bodice is made of two layers so is nice and solid. The skirt is knee length on me (I'm 5'9, so might go below the knee if you're shorter), and is a little bit thin, but there is the extra layer of the apron in the front, so you can probably go without a slip.

OK so this didn't get a 5 star only because it looks like different fabric in the photo, for the record it is cotton. Like a cotton blouse. It is so pretty though, and surprisingly sexy. My boyfriend was excited by how beautiful it was. The skirt does fall below your knees not above. I'm 5'6 an athletic 140, I ordered the 38, since that was what was left. It fits great. There is a zipper in the front center, under the laces, you can't take the dress of without it. It seems like good quality. There is plastic thread holding the metal flowers on. I might stitch them with regular thread just in case. Overall very excited to wear this, after a handwash and ironing. ;)
