THE BOOK WAS AN EXCELLENT BOOK ON DIFFERENT TYPES OF WEAPONS OUT THERE, HOWEVER THE TITLE WOULD LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE THAT IT WOULD EXPLAIN HOW AND WHICH GUNS WOULD BE BEST FOR CONCEALED CARRY. IN MY OPIINION THE WRITER LEFT OUT A WHOLE LOT OF THINGS ABOUT CARRYING CONCEALED WHICH ONE SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH IF THEY ARE GOING TO BE CARRYING CONCEALED. ALTHOUGH MOST STATES HAVE VARYING LAWS REGARDING CARRYING CONCEALED, A GENERAL IDEA COULD HAVE BEEN ADDED AS WELL AS SOME OF THE NEWER SMALL WEAPONS COULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. ALTHOUGH THE .380 AUTO, OR .380 ACP USED TO BE CONSIDERED UNDERPOWERED, WITH TODAYS NEWER UPGRADED POWDERS AND BULLETS GIVE A GREAT DEAL MORE POWER AND ACCURACY. WITH THE NEW POWDERS IT IS NOW CONSIDERED TO BE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POWER CHART FOR CONCEALED CARRY IT CAN BE CONCEALED VERY EASILY ESPECIALLY IN THE RUGER AND KEL-TEC MANUFACTURERS. BOTH OF THESE COMPANIES BRING HIGH TECH FIREARMS AND NEW POWDERS WHICH MAKE THEM MUCH MORE FORMIDABLE THAN SOME OF THE OLDER MODELS WHICH FIRE THIS CALIBER. THE MILITARY, AS A GENERAL RULE, THROWS OUT THE NUMBER OF 300 FOOT POUNDS OF ENERGY AS THE MINIMUM ENERGY NEEDED TO "STOP" SOMEONE, SO IF YOU PUT TWO OF THE .380 ROUNDS INTO THE BAD GUY, THEN YOU SHOULD STOP HIM OR HER. AGAIN, THERE ARE SO MANY VARIABLES INVOLVED THAT YOU CANNOT JUST SAY THAT 2 HITS WITH A .380 AUTO WILL STOP A DETERMINED INDIVIDUAL IN ALL CASES. IF YOU ARE ATTACKED BY SOMEONE IN MUCH STRONGER THAN NORMAL CONDITION, AND WEARING HEAVY OUTER WEAR SUCH AS A HEAVY WOOL OR LEATHER COAT THEN YOUR .380 AUTO MAY NOT DO MUCH DAMAGE AND THEY MAY KEEP COMING AT YOU. eVEN SO THE MORE "HITS" YOU INFLICT ON THE PERSON THE BETTER YOUR CHANCES OF YOU SURVIVING THE ATTACK. FOR JUST A.SMALL INCREASE IN SIZE YOU COULD GO WITH THE RUGER LC-9, WHICH IS A 9MM CARTRIDGE WHICH GIVES YOU AN IMMEDIATE INCREASE IN POWER AND PENETRATION WHICH GIVES YOU A GOOD DEAL MORE KNOCKDOWN POWER. I DO NOT RECALL THIS SMALL PISTOL BEING MENTIONED IN THIS BOOK, WHEREAS IT DOES GIVE YOU A LARGE NUMBER OF 1911 CLONES WHICH ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT GREAT WEAPONS FOR QUICK KNOCKDOWN POWER AND PENETRATION. WITH MORE EMPHASIS ON SMALLER WEAPONS WHICH ARE MUCH MORE EASILY CONCEALED THAN SAY A 1911 GOVERNMENT MODEL WHICH AVERAGE MORE THAN 30 ONCES, THE TITLE ADVERTISES SOMETHING WHICH THEBOOK DOES NOT GIVE THE READER. THERE IS VERY LITTLE INFORMATION GIVEN ON CONCEALING METHODOLOGIES,THERE SHOULD BE.MORE INFORMATION GIVEN TO DEVELOPING A MINDSETWHICH LETS YOU WORK OUT IN YOUR MIND WHAT YOU ARE PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY ABLE TO DO. SOME PEOPLE HAVE PERSONALITIES WHICH WOULD NOT LEND THEMSELVES TO DEFENSIVELY USE A HANDGUN TO PREVENT BEING KILLED. THEY WOULD NOT EVEN CONSIDER HURTING SOMEONE ELSE. IN THIS CASE, CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON WOULD ONLY ADD WEIGHT TO WHAT THEY WEAR AND STILL HAVE NO PROTECTION.TO BE OF ANY USE THE PERSON BEING ATTACKED MUST HAVE ALREADY BEEN THROUGH THEIR OWN MIND HOW AND WHY THEY WILL PROTECT THEMSELVES. ONLY THEN WOULD A WEAPON BE OF ANY USE TO THEM.

This is a good information filled book. It appears to be, and read, as though there was considerable thought put into the contents.Based on what I read, I changed my stance, from the thirty-five plus years of using the Weaver when shooting, into the Isosceles stance. My scores have been much more consistent with this new shooting style, so I am going to continue honing this technique each time I shoot.The advice to use a laser for dry firing has also helped me get in more trigger time without going through a week’s paycheck buying ammo. The results of this practice has helped with a faster target acquisition, given me a chance to practice my breathing control, trigger pull and follow up.He makes good safety suggestions, ones I have followed all of my life but it was good to have them reinforced again.I recommend this book to anyone considering carrying a handgun, who is looking for basic, solid thoughtful information about the process of choosing, shooting, buying and carrying one.This is not a decision entered into lightly. It means knowing the risks and responsibilities involved in shooting and ultimately carrying a weapon at all times.Be smart, be safe, and practice if is your decision to buy a handgun and then legally carry it.

A lot of good information in this book, that people new to gun ownership and those who are old pros, will enjoy and benefit from reading for the first time or brushing up on. The Author writes so that the laymen can understand the subject matter and can feel comfortable understanding their weapon. From choosing the right weapon to taking care of it, this book covers all the important aspects of gun safety and ownership. It is a large book that is filled with great photos and easy to read text.

A good book for beginners and a person who never handled a pistol befor.

Was really looking forward to tips for situational concealed carry, dos and don'ts, etc. Instead, this is a beginners guide to things like different types of firearms, different types of ammo, firearms cleaning, etc. Only one small chapter on concealed carry, and most of that was on the different types of concealed carry holsters that are available. It had such wisdom as "you have to find a concealed carry holster that is right for you." Brilliant. Fairly disappointed, and have not found anything here that I did not already know.

Great book for those new to concealed carry. I liked the writerw style. It may be a bit rudimentary for more advanced users. The first chapter was the weakest, rehashing stats on getting stung by bees vs. shot by a gun. But once the author got into the actual meat of the subject it picked up nicely.

I ordered this book and I found something else for lower price, I tried to return it and it was on its way already, as arrived I over look inside and decided to keep it, it is very informative for first time ccw new owners is very helpful I RECOMEND BUYING THIS BOOK BEFORE BUYING A GUN, Excellent quality paper and colorful pictures, very specific, detailed and professional information. A most have. I buy another for a present.
