XMI X-Mini Max Duo Portable Mini Speakerswith 3.5mm Jack Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod/Smartphones/Tablets/MP3 Player/Laptop - Gun Metal Grey

Bought primarily for i-pod use; however, these are versatile little speakers that pack a punch for a multitude of uses. Sound quality is surprisingly good given their size and the ability to open out the speakers adds a novel twist to their dynamic range. Yes you can over-drive them and like any speaker the sound deteriorates but used sensibly these are just the ticket to give your ears a rest from headphones.

So I bought these in 2013 and these puppies are still going strong! Before this I also had the single version of the  X-Mini II  which is great but the Duo are far better. They are larger but just as portable & have a better volume capability when providing grooves for more than just myself!I ordered the black set which came with the necessary cables for charging and plugging into my laptop, plus a sturdy carry pouch to store everything in.What impressed me most with the X-Mini range was the attention to detail. Everything about them looks like they have been supremely well designed, such as:- The cable slots away inside the base of each unit for less mess in storage.- They magnetically clip together for less mess in storage!- Each unit compacts down for less mess in storage. Haha!- The materials used feel great to the touch for a very tactile product.- There are no loose parts or rattles, everything feels precision made.- The cone is exposed for volume but guarded for protection against probing toddler fingers.- Rubber feet to prevent vibrating on hard surfaces.With regards to the sound (arguably the most important part) they have a real punch for such a small unit. As a bassist I look out for a refined sound and a good range in the low end which is what I really like with the Duo. There is zero tinny-ness and a great clarity across the entire range, although mid-range focused, the overall balance feels natural.Other observations:- Great battery life.- Good price point.- Daisy chaining for even better coverage.I would 100% recommend these speakers to anyone. I have found they work best in the following scenarios:- Out and about at the beach park etc.- At home with a laptop for personal music.- Watching movies with a few people without huddling round for the sound.

The speakers are fine. BUT after about 4 weeks, one of the cables for charging/playbackjust disintegrated, so they couldn't be used for stereo playback! No mis-use, not put underany excessive strain, kept in the little fabric bag when not in use - simply gave up the ghost!Also, when run at full volume from my tablet, the track being played sometimes 'skipped', justas if I were playing a scratched record on an old-fashioned turntable. Dropping the volume byone notch cures the problem, but...The speakers can still be chained together to produce mono output, which as it happensis OK, BUT THAT IS HARDLY THE POINT - the cable supplied with these speakers is simplynot robust enough for the job. Ironically, I was a bit concerned about the robustness of theOTHER end of the cable (the USB connector for charging from the computer), but it wasthe connection to the speaker itself which died 'orribly. Don't touch 'em with a barge pole!

These little speakers are brilliant, the sound on them is fantastic, I prefer though to link them together with the cables on the base folded in for neatness. The reason being is that the stereo cables are a bit messy, overall the sound was good with this cable but on a very familiar cd of mine I noticed that using this cable, a guitar disappeared !!!! I checked this by going back to the little cables on the speakers and boom there was the guitar back !!! Very strange but this is what happened. To me the sound just using the little cables is brilliant for me and goes very loud !!!Gun metal is a colour I like, they are neat little speakers with a nice little bag to keep them in 🙂 It's cool because they stick together which is magnetic on the base to put them in the bag.I gave 5 stars because I love these little guys 🙂 For the price too, really good price for what you get. If you do want a louder sound you can get more and have a nice little family of X-mini max for a huge wall of sound.

As an impressed owner of a standard Xmini, I was looking for the next notch up to take round with me and use with my projector. The sound is undoubtedly crisper and more detailed and a fair bit louder too. But I'm still half wishing I just bought another Xmini and linked it to my original and saved myself 30-odd quid.

These are a great idea for speakers, very small & compact yet still have a good sound. However I sent them back for a refund as they were not loud enough. They are designed so you can keep adding speakers so you can probably get a them louder but I need something really small & portable.

Wanted a cheap set of speakers for temporary use. Theses do the job better than expected.

Nice effort for such a little package....don't expect rumbling bass when used outdoors (by the pool on holiday) but good definition and pretty nifty when used indoors. If you wind em up they will vibrate across the table!! But overall spot on for sound/portability combo
