1/2 Gallon Glass Jar

I bought this jar to make kimchi in. As a Korean who has eaten through thousands of glass jars of kimchi throughout her lifetime, I know a good-quality glass jar when I see one. I have to say, I was pretty impressed with this one. The glass was thick and sturdy, with no discernible warping or thin spots. The plastic cap was also well-made and not flimsy, and created an airtight seal when I screwed it on tightly. I was worried that the jar would get damaged in transit, but Amazon did a good job with the packaging and it arrived in perfect condition. I've had this jar for months, constantly refilling it with a new batch of kimchi , and it has held up really well and still looks brand new. Would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a solid glass jar for storage or home fermentation.Looking through some of the other reviews, it looks like there might be some kind of quality control issue. I'm not sure if it's from the same manufacturer/distributor that I ordered from, but fyi I got my jar from Wiseman Trading, distributed by GlassBottleOutlet and fulfilled by Amazon. Hope that helps!

I love these half gallon jars and store my goat milk and nuts in them, as well as fermenting kombucha, but my mother had a rough time ordering the gallon size from a different vendor from mine, and she got gallon juice bottles without lids. SUCKED. So be careful who you buy these from - the vendor changes according to price point fluctuation. My recommendation is to look for items sold by Wisemen Trading Co.; they're conscientious, their items are always as listed, and they have high standards for what they stock. Great resource for home fermentation and other useful activities! Yes, they might cost a little bit more than the crazy deals type of seller, but you actually get what you're ordering when you buy from them!

This is just a jar. A plain jar. I don't know what I was expecting but it must have been something other than a plain, old jar. Save yourself 10 bucks and go to WalMart and buy three of them for the same price.

Decent jar. Not what I was looking for tho. Reviews and questions were pretty misleading and I thought the jar would be taller. It was way too short for the project I needed it for. Ended up with the gallon mason jar instead

I've ordered three of these now (separately), all from GlassBottleOutlet, and all three have come with plastic lids, as advertised. They don't seem to leak, although I haven't (and don't plan to) put the lids through the dishwasher. I've been using them for refrigerator pickles. They work perfectly, and they are a good size. They hold a lot without being too enormous to hold or store in the fridge and they seem sturdy. Other than that, well, it's a glass jar.

Perfect for my needs. Going to order one more just because I like the size, with so many storage uses. I prefer glass over plastic and glass is hard to find so this worked out perfect.

I was disappointed when I received this item. Due to the great reviews, I was expecting more.The size is awkward and did not work efficiently for what I had planned.The lid did not feel secure, I did not believe that this item would hold up well with long-term use.It was easy to return.

Expensive, but useful for my water and milk kefir and kombucha. I could probably have sourced cheaper jars, but it was worth the convenience of purchasing through Amazon.com. The jars arrived in good condition.

It's a decent jar, I just think I probably paid too much for it after seeing some in real stores such as Bulk Barn.

Not sure why they're worth the price of GOLD but a unique size and shape
