Hape Garden Salad Kitchen Playset | Award Winning Wooden Pretend Play Food Set for Kids, Salad Ingredients and Accessories for Healthy Eating Habits

PROS:• beautiful solid wood play food (with some felt components)• durable — so far it's holding up to 2 years of play (see pictures)• healthy foods represented• bottles and pepper shaker versatile for imaginative playCONS:• wish the cucumber, tomato and onion slices were a tad bigger, so they could be used by younger toddlers as well without being a choking hazard (not a real issue with the set, just something that would make the play salad more versatile for multiple age ranges)This play set gets lots of use by my 3.5-year-old (who has been playing with it since 2 years old) and my 1-year-old likes these as well to sort and put in and out of bowls, though I only let the baby play with the bigger pieces and while keeping a close eye. The pepper shaker makes shaking noises, which my children love, and the bottles get used for many imaginative purposes as well (milk, sauce, cream for coffee, spices, etc.). I like that the foods included are healthy, though the only thing my kids don't make with it is a salad :-) — they use all the components in other dishes, so as a set it's still a hit and very versatile. The detail of illustration on the veggies is nice and I'm very happy with how it is holding up after 2 years of play (everything, even the felt pieces, is essentially still in perfect shape – only the olive oil bottle has a bit of wear around the edges).

Great playset and it's exactly how it looks in the pictures. The play salad is really cute and the pieces are well made. The wood pieces are great quality and the pepper one makes a noise when you shake it to make it sound real. The salad and all the pieces are nice sizes. Great playset for kids!

I just got this toy for my 3 year old daughter, so I can't comment for sure on the durability. But, the pieces look like they will last and hold up very well. The whole set is really cute. I especially like the pepper grinder, as my daughter loves to use our real salt and pepper grinders. The carrot sticks and lettuce pieces are felt, the bowl is plastic, and the peppers, onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes are all wooden. The salad dressing bottles, serving utensils, and pepper grinder are also wooden. My one complaint, and why I wanted to write the review, is some of the pieces are smaller than I expected. The wooden onions and cucumbers are small circles, maybe the size of quarters. The felt carrots strips are small, too, so I'm going to go the craft store and make some larger ones for now. This might not be an issue for some, and wouldn't be for us, if we didn't also have a 9 month old baby. For now, we will probably put those pieces up. On the plus side, that still leaves a lot of other cute pieces. I like that the finishes are all non-toxic and would recommend it based on how it compares to other toy salad sets I've seen.

For the past 25 years there has been several age/developmental levels of kiddos here. Through the years we have purchased quite an assortment of "plastic" play food for our many play kitchens and pretend restaurants. As you could imagine, in the past 25 years, many pieces were lost, chewed on by the pups or kids or just plain worn. Our supply of play food was quickly dwindling and/or becoming rather outdated. My youngest son and my granddaughter still enjoy playing with the play food. My granddaughter loves to play with the food - instead of saying she is cooking - she says she is "cheffing" - so cute. As play food is still a popular item here - it was time to look into purchasing some new sets.I came across this Hape - Playfully Delicious - Garden Salad Play Set, along with the Hape - Playfully Delicious - Chef's Choice Wooden Play Food Set and the Hape - Playfully Delicious - Pita Pocket Play Food Set - all offered at a really good price. I took a chance and purchased the sets and I am very glad I did. The sets are made of good quality materials with excellent craftsmanship. The littles enjoy mixing up the items from each set and 'creating new combinations to serve at their restaurant'. I also like the fact that this Garden Salad set offers healthier food choices so evening play the littles learn the value of food as fuel for our body.I am definitely going to keep my eye open for a few more good deals as I am VERY satisfied with the quality of our playlet and feel it will serve the kids for many years to come.

My baby girl recently turned two in mid-October and I bought the IKEA kitchen set. She had pots and pans but no food. She and my two older daughters used blocks for pretend. I bought a toy chest from IKEA and hacked it to be a matching fridge and checked out amazon! THE QUALITY OF HAPE TOYS ARE AMAZING!!! The size of the food is more suitable for children around her age group but risk of choking isn't high either.The colors are as vibrant as posted and detailing of each piece is done beautiful. My newborn son has a rare condition that effects him if he is around toxins in toys, clothing, paints, etc, so finding eco-friendly toys is also pertinent. Although eco-friendly, style, look and quality was not compromised! I know my children will have fun now and even more fun in the future.Any parent looking for the best quality in toys and also being eco-friendly isn't bad either... try Hape Toys!

She doesn't play with this one as much as I would like, but then again, she doesn't eat vegetables as much as I would like (or at all).The set is well crafted.There is oil, vinegar, serving utensils, a salad bowl, and lots of mixins for salads. Seem to not have enough lettuce - the lettuce is felt and the veggies are wood so the lettuce gets kind of lost in the salad. There is only a pepper shaker, no salt shaker which to me is a bit odd.Overall though, a quality toy

My grandchildren love this play set and play with it every time they’re at my house. They believe it’s so realistic that they’ve asked for “real meat” too.

Saladier léger en plastique, tout le reste en bois :) à l'exception des feuilles de salade et morceaux de carottes en feutre. L'avantage des légumes découpés (oignons, tomates, concombres, poivrons) en fins morceaux est qu'ils peuvent être ré-utilisés à d'autres occasions. Ils rentrent dans les plats de la dinette Oxybul que j'ai acheté en parallèle, ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas avec d'autres marques. Les enfants peuvent donc s'amuser à préparer des soupes avec, des sandwichs, des pizzas etc.La poivrière fait du bruit quand on la secoue et remporte également un franc succès auprès de ma fille qui s'amuse à nous imiter et poivrer tout ce qu'elle "prépare". C'est un véritable plus!La taille est parfaite pour 1 enfant de 1 à 3 ans.Un petit bémol sur la fourchette et cuillère qui paraissent 1 peu plus épaisses (par rapport au reste) mais qui ont, du coup, le mérite d'être solides. Les bouteilles en bois ne s'ouvrent pas, dommage mais en même temps compréhensible pour éviter que des enfants trop jeunes n'avalent le bouchon.Prix tout à fait correct pour le contenu. Des versions similaires, légèrement plus chères, existent dans d'autres marques (vertbaudet, melissa & doug etc).

Lo mejor es que es un juguete de madera y de tela (la lechuga). La única pega es que el bol es de plástico (es lo único que no me gustó), pero en general muy bien. Está muy bien hecho, colores llamativos, a mi hija le encantó. Lo recomiendo.

Who knew I’d get so excited about a toy salad set! This is an extremely well made and high quality salad set consisting of wooden bottles of olive oil and vinegar, a wooden pepper pot, a plastic salad bowl with wooden salad servers, lettuce leaves made of felt, carrot strips made of felt and wooden slices of tomato and peppers. As play food goes, this set is unique and my kids and their friends absolutely love it. We have a lot of play food, but this set is used time and time again. It comes in a sturdy cardboard box and would make an excellent gift. I gave it to my daughter for her fourth birthday and although she received many lovely gifts, this was her favourite gift by far. It’s been very well used for several months now and still looks like new. I’m sure it’ll be a firm favourite for years to come.
