Great complex strategy planning game
Great game, thought it would be easier to learn but it doesnt matter. There are a quick start rules to become familiar with game principles in a very short time and even when these rules are covering about 40% of the whole game posibilities (maybe even a little less), it is still fun to play it. When you learn principles, you can switch to the complete rules or just add a parts of the complete rules to the game piece by piece. I can only recommend it.

Battle Geeks UNITE!!!
This game is pretty darn great. I’ve got a few different battle games that include table top miniatures. The move model is pretty good, a little different than the competitors/similar games. Great fun.

Miniatures Detail
The miniatures are awesome! The detailing is very good. Even the decals are awesome! Ares games should give the crafters a pay raise!

Quick fun game
My son loves board games and wanted something that didn't;t take up too much time to set up, like Star Wars Legion and Star Trek Alliance. The detail in the ships is INCREDIBLE. As BSG fans we love this game so far. It is easy to play has an easy and hard mode which is nice.

Great Looking Miniatures
The miniatures are the best pre-painted I've seen (and I've seen a lot). I haven't gotten a chance to actually play it yet myself but I've heard many people rave about it.

Models damaged, flimsy packaging
One of the models was damaged in the package (fine, I can magnetize it), but the flimsiness of most of the components bothers me more. This is not like X-Wing, with thick, cardboard templates and obstacles. The Battlestar material is a thick cardstock instead. Also the main combat mechanic of 2d6, plus or minus integer modifiers, just seems out of place in its simplicity, compared to the (appreciated) complexity of the rules of momentum, kinetic energy, altitude, etc.

A Fantastic Game with Great Production Value
This is a really fantastic game. Fair or not I can't help but compare it to X-Wing but I'm assuming most people who'd buy this will have some familiarity with it. I don't mean these comparisons to be a knock on X-Wing, a game that I also enjoy greatly.Pros:- The models are absolutely gorgeous and solidly built. Even if you never intend to play the game a BSG fan would get his money's worth just having the ships to display on a shelf. The Vipers have the pilots' names stenciled under the cockpit canopies for frak's sake!- The ships are much more durable from a gameplay standpoint. One-shot kills seem to be all but impossible and two-shot kills have been rare on my table. This directly leads to my next point, which is...- Compared to X-Wing you get a lot more dogfighting in your game. Maybe it's my play style but X-Wing to me seems to be 80% closing to range and then a relatively quick clearing of the board. In this game that ratio is reversed, most of your time is spent engaged in the knife fight.- In that knife fight the ability to stop, reverse and change facing is not only thematically accurate but adds a LOT of options. Expect the advantage to flip several times in any given fight, because...- The better pilot is probably going to win. I think most X-Wing games are won while building your list, this game is won by driving your plane. It's not a perfect game though. There are a few small drawbacks.Cons:- The movement system, though fun and innovative, lends itself to imprecision. I find that the ships keep getting subtly knocked... 1mm here, 1mm there.. especially when you're in the thick of it. This isn't a problem when you're just friends having fun but if you're the hyper-competitive sort that measures range with a laser it might get on your nerves.- The control decks need some serious breaking in to be easily usable.Overall I'd rate this game a screaming buy. I'm looking forward to expansions, especially the implied added capabilities that Raptors, Heavy Raiders and capital ships will bring.
