Well made solid recorder, but buttons require multiple functions that aren’t very intuitive.
Metal construction feels solid. Would love a giant readout for older eye to see easier. Can get it to do everything I need it to but I usually have to find the manual to do much. Like many automated computer type things these days IhVe to wonder about who sets up the programming on them. Certainly it is not done with the consumer giving input. But you will figure it out and get good service out of this nice unit. Bought mine renewed - which means it has been completely checked out as functional. Saved some bucks there.

For lectures this might be great, but for off camera sound recording - Avoid!
Man I really wanted this to work. at $40 it was hard to pass up. The use of this for me was for off camera sound capture using a Lavaliere mic. I spent HOURS digging through the internet to get this to capture decent sound and I just couldn't do it. When I finally got the 'proper' settings for a mic, it captured with so little gain that I had to add gain in Audacity just to hear it. The result was a very hollow sound. Also: It can take 5-8 seconds from the time i hit record for it to actually start recording. There seems to be no audio gain that's easy to find in the system so you get whatever it captures.I decided to toss this and get an H1N Zoom. It's more than double the price but man right out of the box it is already recording audio 100% better.

It is very complicated to use, but customer service is great
The sound quality is horrible. It has an echo and sounds like if you were standing at one of a long hallway trying to talk to someone at the other end. The recording sound is very muffled. It is not user friendly. You have to go through a lot of settings in order to record or play your recordings. I didn't even try the MP3 function on it due to the frustration of having to go through so many settings just to use and play back the recordings. Now, it's just sitting around collecting dust because I tried to get use to it and lost the window to return it.EDIT: The company did contact me to help me with the issues with this recorder. They were extremely helpful and even sent a link for a youtube video to show how to use the settings. I was 1. too busy to watch the video and then try it and 2. was so frustrated with the recorder I didn't want to try. But I have to give it to this company, they will work with you if you do decide to purchase this recorder. My original star rating was a 2 but since the customer service reached out to me and tried hard to be helpful, I felt that deserved an extra star. The product itself is a 2 star in my opinion, but the customer service is 5 stars.

3 1/2 inches tall. Very compact.
It’s smaller than I thought. It is easy to use. I wish it had a larger storage. I haven’t mastered how to transfer recording to my computer yet. I don’t like that the noise reduction can’t be shut off. This is a pretty good little recorder. I have only used it to record noise pollution.

To complicated, no instructions, don't buy.
It's so complicated that I had to look up a u tube video to even do the basic recording. There's very little instructions included. You need to be a tech pro to use this.

Need help from owners of the Dictopro X100
I love the feel and the look of the recorder but I'm running into a problem: It only plays back the first 10 seconds of a recorded file, then jumps to the next one. I have recorded files ranging from 50 seconds to more than three minutes that I need to access, but it won't play back all of it. Can anyone help?

Don’t buy this
It makes a weird clicking sound during playback every 20 seconds. Super annoying and I would not suggest this to anyone.
