Style:GFORCE Pro 7200RPM | Color:Black | Capacity:6TB The GFORCE 3 family of external hard drives is easy to use and plug and play with any Windows PC. To use the hard drive with Mac or any other operating systems, a simple and quick format of the 500GB hard drive is needed (we've included easy to use instructions). The GFORCE 3 is great for PC's, Macbook Pro, Xbox One, PS4 (PlayStation 4) and any other devices that need fast data transfer. Be wary of shiny pretty things
I have a number of external hard drives. I know how to maintain them and what not to do when moving them, etc. I bought the Fantom from Amazon about a year ago because 1) I seemed to remember the company had a good reputation and 2) it was truly beautiful on the outside. As a matter of fact if a hard drive could be sexy then this one would easily win. After a few weeks I tried to retrieve some files I had stored on the fantom and I could not find the drive listed in my computer directory. I knew what this likely meant and to my dismay the drive was indeed defective. I did not have anything on the drive that was critical and so there was no loss of data that I did not have saved in one of the cloud services I use. It was the fact that I paid over $100 for a product that failed without warning and only about 30 minutes of use. I have 7 other external hard drives including a Toshiba, a Seagate and numerous WD products. Three of them are 5 years old and work just fine. The computer I was using is a 2016 Alienware Area 51 and has state of the art components. My point being, I have quality components, have had no other external drive failures (always plan on an external drive failing at some point...it just happens) and I know how to properly use and protect an external hard drive.Amazon is amazing when replacing a defective item and would have immediately refunded my money upon return of the item. Unfortunately when something like this happens...and it is very rare for it to happen I rarely remember to return it. This certainly may have been a one time thing. I will never know because I won't do business with this company again. Not just because I bought a product which was defective, but because I have discovered the new external hard drives from another company. I won't mention the brand because this is not an advertisement for another data storage company but their new external hard drives don't need a power source, have twice the storage and almost half the cost. Amazing.I guess my only point is, when you buy a defective product as I did you don't have to rely on the mercy of that company to replace your item. Amazon rocks because they have your back in everything you purchase. The lesson for me was not to buy something just because it is shiny and pretty. Marketing a product is rarely a true measure of how good that product is. I knew that but bought it anyway. If I'm the only one who had a problem with this product then good for everyone else and too bad for me (my attempt at humor).

Buyer beware: Warranty is now only 1 year
I have a bunch of Fantom external hard drives, ranging from 2TB - 8TB, mostly Pro versions but also versions. Warranty used to be 3 years for the Pro versions. I am looking to buy additional drives now--I see that manufacturer's website now says the warranty is only 1 year limited. Most of the reviews and the product description pages here on Amazon do not mention this--most of the reviews still say 3-year warranty, which is wrong. Buyer beware. (Also note that the WD My Book currently still has a 3-year warranty. Why did Fantom change their warranty coverage length?)

I Expected A New Drive
Received the drive today. It says it has been on for 998 hours, has been powered up 590 times, and is 5700RPM, not 7500RPM like a lot of buyers claim to have received. Looking at all of this, strongly suggests that I have paid for a used drive. I only give it two stars because it showed up, and powers up. Here is a screen capture of the drive received. It already has over 41 days of use on it, supposedly new.

Disappointed with product and vendor
Drive was working when received, but fan was very loud. A month after receipt, the fan has stopped working and our documents are not available. Contacted Amazon, who put us in touch with vendor. Vendor requested screenshot of "Disk Management" -- now has acknowledged a "mechanical" problem with drive. But they want us to send it back at our cost for diagnostics. We want a replacement. Requested same from vendor -- with no response. Didn't buy a used unit -- we want a new replacement. Not pleased! With product or vendor.

BELL 6131 PVR EHD YES
I just want to help out the average joe like myself who had trouble finding a compatible EHD to work with their BELL 6131 receiver . This one has worked well so far (2-3 weeks) and formatted in about 20 minutes . All the necessary specs that BELL 6131 requires are met inside the box . DC power , 7200 rpm , no sleep mode etc...The one thing I cannot comment on is its long term use since I've just used it for 3 or so weeks to replace a western digital unit that gave me 8 problem free years until it died during a power outage .I bought the 1 tb size that give you 3oo HD hours ....

Famtom drives used to be good products
I use Fantom USB drives for backup of a SMB bunch of servers for numerous years. These drives run 24/24 and they last at least 5 years. I have two that are 9 and 10 years old and run without any problem. But I bought a replacement Fantom drive last year that last less than a year. It was a 4TB External Hard Drive - USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Silver Aluminum - GFORCE 3 Serie. The problem is that the data got corrupted several times. I finally found the cause of the problem: the internal temperature of the drive is well above 50 degrees Celcius. That is way too hot.All my other Fantom drive were 3TB or less and their temperature range from 39 to 47 C. Do these 4TB drives need forced ventilation? Looking now for a replacement, I am not certain if Fantom drives will make it to the contender list.

13.8TB
I ordered this for gaming. I have a 8TB Seagate one connected to my 'Xbox One X', I recently subscribed to 'Game Pass' for that $1 during E3 - I had 6.9TB before I subscribed but, after I download *EVERY* game available I went down to 1.9TB.After hearing about 'PS5' and 'Xbox Scarlett(?)' being "average" 400GB per game, that would be 21 games "only" able to be stored on my old 8TB, compared to 36(a big deal to me). This drive runs very loud(like those old Connecting To The Internet Sounds but, without the squeaky noise), this is not a big deal to me AT ALL to me. This HDD is at 1?.?TB, I still have 30 games downloading - remember 'Game Pass' also has 'Xbox 360' Games in it, so some games are only 1GB or 7GB, or even under 1GB!The 'Fantom Drives' 14TB does what I purchased it to do. As for an increase in Loading Speeds I have noticed a little boost in 'Forza 7' loading from Track to Main Menu. I go back to Christmas 198?(NES\Super Mario Bros.) to 2019/beyond, in between I have owned EVERY system with the exclusion of ALL 'SEGA' 's systems and the 'N64'; MEANING Load Times mean *NOTHING* to me - downloading the game DOES. 'Forza 7' took FOREVER to download(think Updating any game on PS4 followed by the Installation!). I love having ??? games on my HDD so I can play a Sports Games quit, start up my Racing Game, then play another game on 'Game Pass' all with 12 button pushes!Highly Recommended!Edit 8/20/19: 212 Games on this HDD and STILL 9.8TB left! Finished downloading ALL 'Game Pass' Games that I want, September will add even more.'Forza 7': Menu to Race is a tiny bit faster then, select car and select new Race is a tiny bit faster as well, But, I did notice a difference, though. I would say maybe 2-5 seconds faster, and it doesn't studder in the Main Menu any more!

Good purchase
I purchased this EHD to replace our pvr external hard drive. This has outlasted Bell's crappy PVR and satellite equipment. It has done its job quite well and has been plugged in since I purchased it. Where we live we have had frequent power outages (device plugged in to surge protector) and this EHD has performed well. Being a electronic device though some people get duds but in my case no problems with it.
