Q: Is this heavy? My mom is having open heart surgery again and the ice packs bothered her last time due to the weight.

Hi Alyssa, no this was not heavy. The pillow is so light I could wrap my hand around the center with a single squeeze and with the addition of the ice pack, which was small and filled with freezer beads, I don't believe your mom will have the same level of discomfort. Also, think about using smaller gel packs as she won't feel the burden of a large ice pack, the weight would be distributed and she could remove whatever smaller pack was bothering her without losing all the packs at one time like with a large pack. Tell your mom good luck!
