Does it work with any filament of the correct material and dimensions, or does it only accept Dremel-brand filament?

Accepted Answer

You can use most of the common 3rd party filaments as long as the temperature settings are within range of the Dremel printer. Platform temp 100c max. Nozzle temp 280c max.
The 3rd party filament can easily be transferred onto an empty Dremel spool or onto a custom spool that can be printed on the Dremel itself. See Thingiverse design. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3045156 This spool fits inside the printer just like the OEM spool. If re-using an empty Dremel spool, be sure to remove the RFID sticker or the printer will use the wrong settings. There is an option in the printer touchscreen setup to use custom settings. There is also a setting to use the slicer settings and override the printer settings. This is useful once you learn to save custom filament profiles within the slicing software.
There is also a spool winder that goes with the printable spool..

Does this use propriety filaments or can i use other filaments? My 3d40 just died. I hate my davinci jr because i cant use 3rd party filaments.

Would either the noise or the smell prevent this from being used in an apartment?

Accepted Answer

No, it’s enclosed and that helps with the noise.  As long as it’s not in the room you sleep in it will be fine.
