Bought used, very handy dictionary
I have not had a lot of success finding a good English-Thai dictionary (I did find a great app for my phone that is in many ways better but you can't easily explore pages with an app). This has English-Thai, Thai-English, each using the excellent transliteration system of the "author." But it also has a Thai script to English section which can be handy for things you see on the street or giving the book to a native speaker to look up the word if you are trying to communicate. Immediately before the Thai script section is a list of the consonants and the page on which the words beginning with those consonants begins. But if you don't know the Thai alphabet and the order used for symbols, searcing in that section may be a bit of a challenge --- no, it WILL be a challenge. But it is still a handy inclusion.

superior content
was easily the best thai english dictionary on the market several years ago when i bought it. it was the most influential component in me learning thai, aside from actually speaking it with the locals. almost all words i tried to look up in the english-thai section were listed. the thai-english is shorter and the thai spelled word-english was even shorter. they squezzed alot into a little packagethe downside was that the cover eventually fell apart because the lamenation was poor. but, i enjoyed the contents so much that i still gave it 5 stars. you can just use clear tape to relamenate the cover.

Google translate is not any better.
Helpful, but a little hard to search through. Some translations don't make any sense in Thai or English. I took a course in Thai in Thailand, and my teachers would laugh at some of the translations. However, I still think it is a quality resource. Google translate is not any better.

Great to have
This book is a very good tool. Out of all of the selection i think i picked the best one. I picked this one due to the Auther. He has many works on Thailand and i have been very impressed so far. There are many English Thai Dictionarys out there. This one is abotu 1 inch thick. Its small enough to put in my pocket when i do travel and it has come in handy many times. I think so far there was only 1 word that i could not find i there. Dont remeber teh word now but i know it was not an everyday conversation word.It also works wfor Thai's. When i girlfriend is trying to explain something to me she uses mine. She has a different one. But grabs mine first.

a great dictionary
This is the best Thai dictionary that I found anywhere. It has very readable print (both in English and in Thai). There are many wonderful features such as a section that shows the Thai letters in different print style -- VERY useful. There is a section that covers tones and examples of why they are important. The best feature is that there is a section for Thai script to English and a section for phonetic Thai transliteration to English. There is also a handy Thai alphabet at the bottom of the Thai scrit to English section for easy reference. The only thing that could be more useful is a wider range of vocabulary enteries. It's not ment for more than basic to eary intermediate vocabulary. Other than that I give it an A plus!

I like Thai-English English-Thai Dictionary for Non-Thai Speakers
I like Thai-English English-Thai Dictionary for Non-Thai Speakers, Revised Edition because is easier to learn Thai than Chinese.I am Burmese and is hard for me to learn Chinese.Therefor I give five stars.

Very complete
Very complete, useful, good to have, often consulted, well bound, deals with a VERY difficult language which has no standardized English spellings for Thai words. I met the minimum required word number for this review.

An excellent paper dictionary
An excellent paper dictionary, however the digital download from Playstore is much better because you can actuallyhear the pronunciation of each word, and it's easier to carry your smart phone around than even this compactpaperbook.

Owning this book makes you feel smarter but really, who's going to use it other than on holiday?
A great little book I purchased when I thought I was going to learn Thai. I realised very quickly that this was a silly idea - the language being near-impossible to speak. This book is now completely redundant, but having it on my bookshelf makes me feel smarter. It also reminds me of a more ambitious period of my life.

Why are thai caracters so thin ?
My copy is well thumbed and has seen a lot of use. It's handy, not too heavy, and gives broad meanings.Being pocket size, the translations are not always the best.I personally find the phonetic system used very unnatural, and complicated. The biggest reproach : the english words are printed in bold caracters, easy to read. The thai words are printed in a too small font and not bold. Not easy at all if you want to use this dictionnary to write in thai.

Very Useful
The dictionary doesn't have every word in it but it does have most. There is not only the written translation but a phonetic pronunciation as well. This means rather than just showing the word, you can have a go at saying it as well.

Great middle-of-the-range dictionary
If you want a dictionary which is more than a phrasebook but less than a full dictionary this is a good item for you. It contains enough words to cover most situations, but if you want to find every word you're going to need to buy a bigger dictionary. Nice size for travelling.
