The Scary Stories Treasury

I am perplexed by these bad reviews for absence of the original artwork. I mean, I'd be pissed too if it wasn't there. It's what made the stories so great and memorable for those who were kids at the time they were first published, like myself. But the book I received had all the beautifully creeptastic drawings intact, quite thankfully. It was one of the very last ones left still new, and it will remain one of the proudest possessions in my life. But I'm curious to see these supposed generic illustrations that were swapped in later on, and why the hell that decision was made. Bad move guys...

I read this in Kindergarten and is still my favorite anthology of scary stories. The illustrations are full of wonder and imagination. The newer release with the cutsey illustrations is a degrading version. Making everything cutsey is going to shock a lot of kids when they become adults and have to face the real world.

I had to buy a copy of Scary Stories with the original illustrations by Stephen Gammell just in case I ever have children. I want them to have the same spine tingle inducing pictures to look at that I did. The stories seem tame to my adult mind now but when I was little, they were enough to make me fall asleep with the lights on. ;)

Arrived before expected shipping date and was in better condition than I thought. The cover is scuffed here and there but the interior of the book is in FANTASTIC condition! Glad I could relive my childhood memories with this!
