Use them day or night
In lieu of the zombie apocalypse, I will be using these on my rural property to determine why my dogs are barking at night. Do I have a horse or a goat in distress? Are there predators down by the animal enclosures? If so, is it just a couple of coyotes drinking the horses water or are there predators trying to get into the goat pen? Is there a stray horse/goat/sheep/cow wandering around down by the pens who needs assistance until its owner can be found in the morning? Did my mare decide at 2am that she wanted some attention and are the dogs barking because she is tossing one of the water bins around the arena? These allow me to assess the situation and more than likely just go back to bed because it is my mare wanting attention and my gelding doesn’t want to play with her at 2am. These binoculars are very easy to use and work great. They seem to be of good quality. I have not tried any of the camera functions yet as this was a function I added just for fun. I love that these can be used during the day also without damaging the IR function.Besides all of that, these are just fun. You cannot mount them on a helmet and walk around in the dark. They do not have a helmet mount and you don’t actually have any depth perception when looking through them so it would be hazardous to walk around while looking through them. When I first got them I walked out beyond the house motion lights to see how well I could see in the dark. I had no problem getting out there because I had triggered the motion lights to guide me. When I was ready to go back to the house the motion lights had long ago gone out and I was too far away to trigger them in the pitch black. Not my finest moment. Take a flashlight along.I did some research before I purchased these so I knew exactly what they were and what they would do before I purchased them. I am thrilled with the quality and functionality and price of my purchase.

Picture quality is poor.
After reading the instructions I attempted to take a few pictures only to be disappointed with the products ability to focus. The quality of the image on the viewer was very poor. Color quality was bizarre. Image was constantly fuzzy. I could not effectively use it during the day and it was worse at night. I was unable to focus or get a decent image despite all of the remedies offered in the manual. I don't know if the Bestgaurder I got was defective or not. The reason I say that is because there are satisfied customers using this product.

Good value for the money
This optic came with a nice carrying case and a large variety of accessories to include a 32 Gb Sandisk memory card. It allows you to capture 720p photo and video in both day and night. I have not had any issues with it after about a month of use and it has been a handy tool to assist me in my night time hunting. The internal illuminator is good to about 120-150 yards, but I was able to see past 300 yards when paired with a stronger external illuminator.Overall the build feels solid and there isn't anything on this device that feels cheap or fragile. I was a little dissapointed at first about it using 8 internal AA batteries but then learned you can plug this device into an external power bank. Options are always nice, and this device definitely gives you plenty.

Good value and it works surprisingly well.
What can I say, it works. The closer the more clear the objects are. The zoom is digital so we all know what that means. Within the first 50 yards in pitch black it’s essentially daytime, the further out you go the less it is but it still works quite well. The picture quality in the review window is a little weak and sometimes a little scrambled along the bottom for pictures taken at high zoom. But on the computer they are surprisingly clear.Overall I’m very happy for the priceMy one complaint is that it would bengreat if the field of view was about twice as wide as it is. You would get a lot more in the picture and it would make it a lot more useable for things like boating at night or just trying to find something in the dark.

OK - Not So Great
I am a night vision aficionado/nut :) …..over the past 30 years I have purchased/owned & used dozens of NV devices, & thermal as far as that goes.So in truth I am not that easily impressed, a NV must be both well designed, well made & be very easy to use & durable/waterproof for it to get a passing grade IMOI like the overall design concept of this digital unit, the widescreen view in particular is what "sells" this device as it offers the promise of a great field of view along with the ability to quickly & easily zoom in & out on your targets of interest. The problem is this good idea is executed in a sub par fashion, so it just does not perform as well as you would hope/expect.The push buton in/out zoom requires manually refocusing the objective lens after every use of the zoom button, moreover the control push buttons are cloistered too close together & they all feel the same in the dark, they should be easily discernible by touch alone as to which button is which, & it would be much better if they had a soft/muted blue or purple glow to them so if need be you could actually just look at them to determine which button to press in the dark if need be.Sure that would raise the price point, but it would be worth it IMO, it is the little touches like that that make the difference between the keepers & the drawer sleepers. The IR illuminator is another problem, just not that powerful & no attachment points for adding another illuminator. Then we have the cheap eyecover piece that shields the viewscreen from light when you look through it...it is poorly designed & really does not work well as it is just too stiff to press your face into without it being uncomfortable to use. What I do like -Is the fact that it comes with a neck strap.... it would be ridiculous to carry it around without one.I like the carry case it comes in, very nice....Also - it IS pretty rugged & weather/water resistant enough .... & the digital video/picture capture ability is nice as well. So, all in all the NV - 900 is a "workable" unit ..... but it rubs me the wrong way due to it's economy based design, I would like to see this idea executed in a professional, albeit more expensive manner..... the end result WOULD be a unit simular in appearance to this, but it would be one that actually makes you grin ear to ear when using it.YES, the 900 IS cool...... but it is not high quality cool, This is just a neat NV toy, sorry to put it like that but that is about the size of it.3 Stars - Somewhat recommended/good budget unit
