This thermometer knows no bounds!
This thermometer knows no bounds! I use this for everything from home made cheese, to caramels, to pot roast and get an accurate reading EVERY time. No more hovering over the pot and steaming my face off, no more hard ball stage when you want soft ball, no more opening the oven and losing all that heat. I get a perfect reading every time. I can even set the temperature (to a temperature I want, not a preset one) and it'll let me know when I've reached it! Which makes baking and cooking even easier, because it's one less thing to worry about! It also helps me get consistently perfect results every time. The alarm is pretty self explanatory, but comes with easy to use instructions anyway! The display is BIG too, which is great for those who have difficult vision or those who simply want to read it without having to stand right in front of it. The cord is also quite sturdy. I was worried about using it with the oven, but it can handle the heat without your oven losing any of the heat. Has a functional stand, but is also magnetized if you need all the counter space you can get like me! Very impressive product, and HIGHLY recommendable.

Excellent. Love this meter.
Excellent in almost every regard so far. Arrived in good condition and on time. It has worked superbly in every application we have tried. I would like to advise anyone ordering this alarm that there is a pan clip with the unit that is a very nice addition, but DOES NOT WORK with the included proble. You have to order a probe with a smaller diameter shaft to fit the pot clip that is included. Why... would you include something that doesn't work, and not tell people that very clearly in the ordering details is beyond me. Ordinarily for something this bone headed, I would deduct 2 stars. I mean, that is just plain dumb. Include that pan clip with the probe that fits into it, not as a useless add on that only serves as clutter to an otherwise outstanding temperature alarm. I would highly recommend this alarm and this vendor, as long as you know that if you need to measure things long term during cooking, like in making cheese for example, you need a different probe to fit this unit's pan clip.

Better than any other out there (but could still use one additional feature...)
I've used many different brands and models of probe thermometers for my grilling, smoking, and baking. I've given up completely on Maverick brand. Thought I'd try one that costs slightly more and I'm very happy. Easy to turn on and off. Settings are easy once you figure it out (though I admit the can be confusing at first). The probe is sturdy and thin. The cable is long enough for the unit to sit in the side shelf of my vertical smoker, run all the way to the top, and dangle through the top vent to get the internal temperature. I really wish they made a dual-probe version of this so could measure the smoker's temp and the meat's temp at the same time. That would be the ultimate. But I will continue telling others about this high-quality thermometer.

It's a great buy and problem taken care of!
Pretty classy act. Really nice time, lots of settings, not hard to set. Has a back-light, almost everything is a 1 button thing, not multi-function buttons which I hate. You know, 1 button does 5 different settings, this is direct, push the right button and that's what it does.And...what am I going to do...send it back...no, it works just fine, it just has a kink in it.....for life!Just an update: I called and they are sending a replacement, great service. So, it's a buy for the meter/alarm/timer but the thermocouple could be heftier!

Perfect. Look no further for a great overall Thermometer
The ChefAlarm by ThermoWorks is perfect for me. I have a Weber Genesis Grill and a Rec Tex Smoker and I live in California where I grill/smoke at least once a week. So my thermometers take a beating from their frequent and long use.I purchased the Ivation 2 probe and the Maverick 733 and was disappointed with both. My favorite BBQ Youtube channel is Smokedonsmoke (check him out you will not be disappointed) where reviews several ThermoWorks products, which were all great so I decided to try their thermometers and I am very happy I did.The best thing about ThermoWorks products is that they are accurate. I like my food cooked to exact temperatures and everything I have made has turned out as expected. I use the ChefAlarm for everything including grilling and smoking because it has a special probe for very high and long temperatures, yogurt and kiefer (great for min and max temperature control), candy (with its pot clip), and even as a timer to monitor my kids time outs. The probe reads very quickly and has a spring on the connection to the cord to keep it protected. I am very impressed with the quality of its probe. Also, the light is bright; I have no problem reading in the dark at night! It is very user friendly; my two year old can work the timer! It comes with helpful pocket instructions too but it is pretty intuitive. It also comes with a product guide with really helpful tips and advice.I was a bit worried about being able to hear the alarm inside my house from outside but I haven’t had a problem hearing it even over my kids.I can’t say enough about the case it comes with; very high quality. It is sturdy and perfect for keeping probes safe. I keep my ChefAlarm on my fridge (time outs) but it says a lot that the company takes pride in their product to help you prolong its life. The ChefAlarm is a great product and is now my go to thermometer.

Works well, have only had one problem. The thermostat overheated one day - the outside temp was over 100F and I left it in the direct sun light for a few hours (measuring the progress of a warm smoked turkey breast). The alarm went off and the LCD screen was blackened. Took it inside the house and started working again a couple of hours later (screen was OK).It really works well with my hardwood BBQ, helped me cut down on the number of times I have to open the lid (usually just once if I have to flip, and only at the end if no flip is required).
