Does this thing have 808 hits?

It has a 909 snare and kick and hi-hat. No 808. But you can connect it to your laptop and trigger your favorite samples or drum vst. That's how I use it.

Can I use the hi-hat pedal to control other sounds?

No. You have to hit the pads directly
