Eliminator Lighting Special Effect Series Mystique Special Effects Lighting

This is a relatively old light technology, but it produces a cool light effect and gives you a lot of bang for your buck. I bought it about a year ago and have only used it a few times, but I just setup for a party recently and one of the cooling fans sounds like it is going bad. It makes a loud screaming noise. It is probably something I can fix, but it does raise an concern with long term reliability on these lights. I would still recommend the light, just a heads up.

If you are looking for a budget light with a really cool look, than look no further! This light is really neat! It was the first light I ever purchased for my lighting rig and while it is a halogen light, it was well worth the money I paid for it. I was able to get one of these here on Amazon for under 100 dollars and I liked it so much that I found myself buying 2 more. The first one I bought saw many hours of use and finally died. With all that being said, the only negatives about the light and the reason it did not receive a 5 rating is because of how hot this get's when activated for awhile. Stand near it and it could be used as an indoor heater. All joking aside, make sure you do not touch the lenses after use or you will get you hand burnt. This light is bulky and heavy which makes it a bit less desirable in comparison to the LED lights on the market. This light is an older model from Eliminator lighting and features a sound activated movement for the lights. In my experience, the mic on the light that activates the effect is not very sensitive which means it will require the sound source to be fairly close to activate it. It does come with a knob where you will be able to determine how fast the effect is though. It has a wash effect with various different colors which I think is the best of it's type. I have yet to find a light similar. This light will remain on the market as one of the most popular lights and for good reason! If you found this review helpful, be sure to let me know by voting! It works good as far and light and effects, but i agree that the music needs to be really loud for the mic to pick it up. Also the unit creates a TON of heat, (hot enough not to be able to touch i with bare hands) It probably works better than an electric heater in that department, so i just have a little fan near it just in case. But over all for the price...it's well worth it and the effects are very nice.

This was much brighter than expected. It works well except that the sound sensing for the unit only works when the music is turned up. I would recommend having speakers close to the back of the unit. That may be why I have to crank it up to get the lights to move to the music. Oh well....
