Monogrammed White Cotton Handkerchief for Men, Initial, 3-Pack

My husband has many allergies so he uses a fresh handkerchief every day. When I saw the HB Initial Monogrammed Handkerchief, the size is what prompted me to order the set. It is described as King Size and that it is. The handkerchief is 18 x 18”. It is made of 100% cotton, and was a little stiff before washing. The description says that it will “get softer with every wash”. I washed them once and they did get softer. They washed and dried well, but were not perfectly smooth, though not wrinkled enough to need ironing. The white color was bright and flawless, made with quality materials. You get three handkerchiefs for $9.49, each monogrammed with your selected initial. This set would make a great gift for any occasion.

I got the “C” monogram handkerchiefs. These are practical for everyday use. The product page advertises these as 18 x 18 inches. They are approximately that size. After washing, two of my hankies are 18 inches x ~16-17 inches. The third, with the maroon monogram, is over 18.25 inches x 16.75 inches. These are large for handkerchiefs; I normally use 12- to 14-inch hankies. Overall, this is a nice handkerchief fabric—one hankie has slight, thicker thread imperfections in a couple of places. It is a lightweight, stable fabric—good for practical handkerchiefs. The stitching is decent and overall neatly done, and not “perfect”. The stitching seems a little heavy and the fabric is bunched at some of the corners. The monograms have interfacing underneath, which is standard for embroidery like this. In two of the hankies, the interfacing seems thinner, and has been trimmed to be less noticeable. The interfacing under the maroon “C” is noticeable as it is thick and has not been trimmed. The photos show the washed fabric, stitching, and monogram (top and underside) details. These are made in India. The washing instructions are conflicting and confusing, so I will relay my experience. The product page says “hand wash only” near the top and “Simply machine wash them on a cool delicate setting and lay them flat to dry,” in the text. The card enclosed with the handkerchiefs has company info and the instructions are “Soak 10 minutes in warm water with mild detergent before handwash or machine wash.” I thought the “soak” instruction was odd, but to ensure care for the hankies, I did the pre-soak, and then I washed them with my light color, delicate, cool water laundry load; then I dried on “delicate” or low temperature. They wash and dry beautifully on “delicate” or “gentle” settings, and the fabric retains some crispness. If you want perfectly smooth fabric and / or crisp folds, steaming or light ironing is required. For me, folding them after washing makes them satisfactorily smooth and flat. These handkerchiefs are a good value for large, 100% cotton handkerchiefs.

There are proper ways to fold a handkerchief. You cannot fold this one with the embroidery showing. They are also a bigger size that standard. The material was thin like it should be, soft after washing and the quality was fair on the stitching. You cannot give them as is as a gift. They are not packaged for that porspose.

This 3-pack of handkerchiefs is advertised as "king size," and the vendor is not wrong! The material is a bit stiff upon opening, but a wash or two will soften it up. They will also wrinkle after washing, but not so badly that I need to iron them before using. Note: I don't use these as pocket squares, but simply to wipe sweat when I'm out in a coat and tie. Construction quality is so-so. As you can see in one of my photos, the stitching is rough, and the handkerchiefs are not all perfectly square. The material is thin, but sufficient to do the job. The embroidered letters are the highlight and are durably made. At this price point, there are other options that may or may not perform better. I'm happy with this product, but I likely wouldn't buy it again due to its large size and so-so construction.

These handkerchiefs exceeded my expectations and feel like a quality product. The cotton is soft, comfortable, and becomes even nicer after washing. These are good size handkerchiefs. I found that they kept their shape after the first wash. The hem around the edge is quite wide 1 cm which is much large that my other handkerchiefs and the stitching is wide and not very fine, they certainly saved on thread when they edged these. One of mine the stitching had missed the hem completely so I have redone it it to stop it pulling apart. Overall I think that the quality is somewhat lacking in these. The monogram was well stitched and looks nice.
