Basic physics
Kit includes the online assignments, no answers or tutoring help. Don't recommend for self studying. eBook software is terrible.

Great price for a brand new book, but it kinda smells weird....
Textbook came brand new in wrapping, along with the Mastering Physics key. Book seems to be perfect, and have everything I need for my Physics class, but I only rated it 4 stars because of one (minor) issue; and I would give something like 4 1/2 stars, but I can't. The issue I have with it is that the book smells pretty...weird. I don't know how to place it. A friend of mine said it smells like cat piss, and I'd say that's close, but I'm not sure. There doesn't seem to be any source of the smell. The smell is just on the book. Maybe that's normal, but I have no clue. Either way, it doesn't really affect me or the usefulness of the book in any way. I'm just glad I was able to get what I needed MUCH cheaper than my college bookstore charges for it, and brand new, no less.

Not good for intro physics...at all!
Horrible for an intro course! It appears to be written as a refresher for people that already have an understanding of physics. The explanations are verbose while lacking in content and the examples will sometimes include variables that are not explicitly defined. The examples fail to consistently list the units of the variables, or reinforce the unit conversions in the examples and it will skip steps that some might find crucial to understanding how to solve the problems. Worst of all, the book is thick and gives you the impression that the explanations are lengthy and thoughtful when they’re not and, instead, reduces the room needed to finish working out some of the examples. The text will literally say, “the rest is algebra.”. Unless you already have a decent understanding of physics, avoid this textbook. If it is your required text for class, good luck because you will need it! Hopefully you have a good teacher that finds you worthy of the knowledge.

Awesome Book!
Absolutely fantastic book! I'm very surprised at some other the other negative reviews. This book is the clearest and most organized physics book as far as I'm concerned. Very handy book to keep for future classes too!

A useful tool for my Physics II class
A useful tool for my Physics II class; however, I wish "with modern physics" was defined more exactly (e.g. a note somewhere on the page at which I purchase providing a link to the smaller text). I only really need the chapters pertaining to electricity and magnetism. I used a smaller version of this text in Physics I and it was not so weighty. I am not overly fond of carrying a book the size of my family Bible from 1850 in my satchel and across my campus.Otherwise its great, but I am not sure how badly I need a reference quantum physics
