When the Heart Breaks
David Whyte is a wonderful motivational speaker through the use of poetry. I have had the opportunity to attend several of his seminars and will go to more if the opportunity becomes available. In the interim I enjoy listening to his CD sets. His audio recordings are powerful because his voice adds so much to his poetry. He reads poetry (his own and other poets) by sometimes repeating phrases or lines, and that adds a depth to the poem. Also, he tells back stories of his poetry and shares his philosophies of life that give the words of his poetry a deeper meaning. This CD set is the same high caliber of all the others I own. I highly recommend David Whyte's books and CD sets.

Love David Whyte, but this is not his best CD
I have all of David Whyte's cds (and a couple of his poetry books), and I love to listen to his lectures and to him read his poetry. This is not the best cd, but I eagerly get anything new he records. There's really not much about requited and unrequited love here. If you're a DW junkie, you'll probably like this well enough. "What to Remember When Waking," "The Three Marriages," and "Clear Mind, Wild Heart" are all better.

Heartbreak for the BUYER!
Mediocre at best. This tape is sheer disappointment as David Whyte rambles about places he has visited over a 7 year period - ground he covers in another CD set. He describes a party he and his wife hosted for friends attending a convention, and a great friend who is confused about the word 'THE' pronounced by most as 'THA'. That's it. Had I paid money to fly somewhere to see and hear him in person, I would have been very ANGRY. Nothing about healing a broken heart here - the title is misleading.

New to David Whyte - Great Stuff
I never thought I'd enjoy a poet reading poetry - David Whytes storytelling leading up to each poem and his intersting way of reading/emphasizing the poetry made this cd a real treat - I've listened all the way through on a number of occasions

A lovely companion for this next part of my journey!
This beautiful cd-set so far exceeded my expectations, it's difficult to say by just how much! Perhaps I didn't have any expectations, but as I listened to it for the very first time, all I can say is, I was stunned. And something woke up and came alive in me that I was so ready for, without even realizing it. This was my very first introduction to the poet, David Whyte, and I was listening and hearing with an intensity that made me realize, I've been sleepwalking for a good long while! I loved to hear the way David reads these poems, slowly, repeating lines or phrases in such a way, it's almost like an incantation! I so appreciated the repetitions--something I've never heard another poet do--because you could miss a word hear or there, or a particular emphasis--but David makes sure you get it without any sense of hammering home a message. Just a gentle flow of words and truths and profound moments, and yes, a coming alive! He makes me want to write, to find my own truths, go deeper into the beauty and depth of this existence while I still have time to do so. Besides all this, he's a great story-teller, offering background anecdotes about his own journey with a great sense of humour and humility. A rare and wonderful 'find". I've since acquired some of his books and more cds as I want to be accompanied on my journey by this friendly being.

Disappointed this time, but I remain fan.
I was disappointed with this CD by David Whyte. One of the reasons being that I found the title misleading. Finding the contents unrelated to my idea of Requited and Unrequited love.Once I realised that, I tried to go with the CD, enjoying the poems, but, found a lot of the talking dialogue irritating.I am a fan of David's poetry now for over 20 years, finding his fine expresion of words, moving, challenging inspirtional and thought provoking. I look forward to his next collection of poems.
