Review: Good optics, tough build quality, waterproof and they really do float! - Very impressed with these binos. Image quality is excellent, the compass is nicely damped and seems to work well even at fairly large angles above and below the horizontal. Unlike other binos the focusing is via each eye-piece, not a central knob. Only an issue if constantly sharing - which I will discourage crewmates from contemplating! Surprisingly and despite their heft, they do (barely) float - I tested this in a bucket of cold fresh water. They were mostly submerged, but they eyepieces were stubbornly above the water. So should be well above in salt-water. Looks like there's a filter thread for the objectives, something less than 52mm, but I haven't had time to explore properly yet. I like their performance and price-point - anything on a boat is eventually going to get wet, otherwise fail or be dropped. I think these will endure and if they fall overboard and can't be retrieved at this price I won't cry for too long.

A: They adjust down to 5.5 CMs rough measurement

A: The compass is analog.

**Q: Do they float?**
A: Yes. I tested them in fresh water and they certainly - and surprisingly - floated. So even more bouyant in sea-water.

Very impressed with these binos. Image quality is excellent, the compass is nicely damped and seems to work well even at fairly large angles above and below the horizontal. Unlike other binos the focusing is via each eye-piece, not a central knob. Only an issue if constantly sharing - which I will discourage crewmates from contemplating! Surprisingly and despite their heft, they do (barely) float - I tested this in a bucket of cold fresh water. They were mostly submerged, but they eyepieces were stubbornly above the water. So should be well above in salt-water. Looks like there's a filter thread for the objectives, something less than 52mm, but I haven't had time to explore properly yet. These binoculars have been great compared to my much cheaper bushnell's. The clarity and focus is great. They haven't been exposed to water or been dropped so I can't say much about waterproof or shock resistance. The compass is is very fast at stabalizing and helpful in navigating along the shoreline if you need to take bearings to check against a map for reefs etc (for whatever reasons, reefs seem to be marked on maps, but not gps) The light works well. The range finder is fun, but mostly a gimick (IMHO) because its all done in meters and I can't think in meters instead of miles/feet. The only downsides to this product is that the compass is a little hard to read when looking through both eye pieces..much easier if you just look through the left one...and its made in china, so quality may be suspect.
