I use it for school
Hi To begin with, I wanted to say that this bag does not seem small. One recurring theme I say was the size being ‘too small’. I personally find it massive. I know there is a choice in size. You are allowed to buy either a 20L or 40L bag. I obviously got the bigger one because I wanted as much room as possible. I’ve never owned a military backpack so I can’t compare it another one but I obviously own a school backpack. It’s a standard backpack that can hold a 15.6 laptop perfectly in the back compartment, that entire backpack (with school items inside of it) can fit in the back compartment of this backpack. I like the design and look of the backpack that’s why I bought it. My intention for the backpack is to be used as an EDC school back. Obviously, it’s intended purpose for the bag is to be used as a hiking or outside bag. This is where I could see the material depreciating because of outside conditions. I’ve never seen anything wrong with the bag but Ive also never been placed in a scenario with vigorous conditions. The material feels like my school backpack material. Nothing special but also not something I would consider cheap. That said, it feels like a school bag, and I personally don't think my school bag could fair against harsh outdoor environments for extensive amounts of time everyday. Something is likely to break or rip.The only place that I think this bag feels cheap is the arm straps;because, the straps are pretty thin. The zippers are metal and have para cord strings with rubber ends attached to them. There are Velcro straps against the top of the bag. There are 5 outside compartments and only like 2 interior compartments( Which make it difficult to organize pencils and stuff but I have a 3rd party organizer inside to solve that problem). All in all, I really like this bag! For my intentions and purposes, its great! Its spacious, I see no faulty material( as of about a week of having the bag), and It works.

Man this thing holds A LOT!!!
Just used this backpack for a weekend trip to Colorado. Got it on sale for a great price, honestly even better than any generic cheap backpack you will buy at any big box stores such as Walmart or Target. After looking for a backpack that can hold a lot, I decided to get this one. Man it holds A LOT! It's more than big enough to hold my slightly oversized Dell Inspiron 7577 laptop with a 15.6" screen and a bunch more stuff. The quality of the material is not going to be your super high end tough military stuff but it will be more than durable enough for a majority of the people out there for pretty much any use. Doesn't matter if you're going to be taking it outdoors, stuffing electronic devices, or like me, packing for a weekend trip. There are many pockets to which you can store all your stuff in. I packed my bag heavily this past weekend and it was still very comfortable to put on my back and it didn't get hot. Then again the weather in Colorado wasn't a scorcher either.I love how the backpack splits in half at the biggest rear area. Makes it easy to pack all my clothes in, and you can pack two columns of clothes easily inside and still shove stuff like socks in the side of it without having to smash everything together. This will also FIT under an airline seat even filled to the max capacity but the pocket of stuff that's always in the front blocks it a little as you're trying to get your bag underneath. I like this a lot better than my dufflebag as that thing was double the cost and was cheaply made, and then broke. So if you're looking for a great bag that looks great, has high quality materials, has tons of storage, has lots of options to connect and hang stuff off of, then look no further. I don't think you'll find ANYTHING that'll store about 50L of stuff for this price. You will be more than satisfied with this backpack. No, I did not get paid nor did I receive this item for testing in return for my review. I bought it at full price for my own personal use and will be keeping it for hopefully a very long time to come.

Great bag for simple pack in and pack out with lots of space.
Let me start with my background to set the tone for this review! I was in the military, in a combat MOS (military occupational specialty). If you have to know, I was an 03 in the USMC. I spent years humping hills and deserts with heavily loaded or tightly packed moderately heavy packs on my back, with and without frames. Now, I camp, hike and have also hiked and camped through Europe for about 6-months with a large internal frame pack similar in size to this. This is a fairly large, multi-compartment, frameless backpack that also has straps and attachments for large external things (ground rolls, tarps, tents, etc) and small things (compass, flashlight, e-tool, etc). While the fabric is waterproof, the zippers are not protected and so there can be a small amount of leaking. If you are worried about waterproofing, use waterproof bags inside the pack. It rarely rains where I am, but it pays be prepared. The stitching feels quite strong and nothing has come loose in the first wear of the pack. While many of the straps feel light, they held fast.Sitting on the floor packed for grab and dash, it measures about 19”x 12.5” x9”. The pack comes with a velcro, subdued stars-and-stripes with an extra velcro backing for other placements. The zippers are plastic/nylon and have cord and bauble tabs on them for easy location and use. There is external velcro on the upmost outer pocket. There are also lots of MOLLE (MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment)-compatible pouches and accessories in fairly standard PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) configuration. There is an adjustable and snap buckled Y strap running from top to bottom and through the webbing attachments. The Y strap is adjustable at the buckle AND at the top. Though, the way it came, the straps did not hold fast, I had to double them back through the buckles for a firm adjustment! There are also 6 evenly spaced (two on the bottom without buckles and two on each side with snap buckles) adjustable straps for making the pack snug and as thin as possible as well as for holding tarps, rolls, etc.The pack itself is light-weight. The shoulder straps are insulted and very lightly padded. Further there is a snap buckle and adjustable (height and length) cross-strap to pull the shoulder straps toward each other, which I like! The back pad is lightly padded and insulated as well. There is also a waist-belt snap buckle to hold the pack weight higher and help distribute the weight between shoulders and waist. This waist belt adjusts smartly to keep the buckle where you want it (on the RIGHT side or in front) and seems to hold the adjustment well. But the right side can only adjust out to 11”, so I wonder if it would sit in the front well for a much larger person (I am 34-36+ depending on cloths.) It certainly won’t sit with the buckle on the left. There is a large velcro closed compartment outside the main compartments between the back padding and the first compartment. Internally it is about 14.5”x12”. There are lanes for water lines or antenna. The bottom, back-most pocket is 10”x10”x2” with a single zipper. Inside it has a pocket with 4 narrow (pen) spaces overlaying one larger 4.5” wide open flat pocket 6” tall and reinforced at the bottom and top.The Top, back-most pocket is 9”x4.5”x2” with a single zipper. There is nothing inside. The next compartment is about 18”x13”x3 with a single zipper that opens ¾ of the way down the bag on both sides. Inside ¾ of the way from the top of the pack is a flat pocket 4-1/4” x 6” overlaid by two narrower net pockets. The large compartment is about 19”x13”x4-1/2” with two zipper heads on one zipper and which runs all of three sides and opens the compartment to lay flat. Inside on the back is a zippered compartment measuring 4-1/4” tall by 13” wide. On the outer face inside is a long flat net pocket 13”x6.5” reinforced all around.I zipped and unzipped, loaded and changed, adjusted and fidgeted with the pack quite a bit. Because the main compartments are open top to bottom all 19", it is not easy to secure gear so it does not fall to the bottom. Since you want to carry heavier weights higher up, this is a challenge. It requires careful packing of light items lower and stacking heavier items upward. Because I was able to get all my gear in with room to spare, I synched all the side straps tight to make the pack as high and tight as I could.I was also able to secure various items on the outside for quick use with clips, tape, Velcro and etc.The pack held its shape well with hiking, though things still slipped downward. However, the waist belt allowed me to carry low weight on my waist well.A couple of times I wanted to get the bag higher on my back at the shoulders, but there are no adjustments for this once you pull the shoulder straps tight. There are D rings on the shoulder straps that you can hold and pull to adjust the wear on your shoulders. So far, the pack has been great and after use, washed easily with a brush and tap, and looks new!I wish there were D rings at the ends of the shoulder strap and in fact all pull straps. The only D ring on a pull strap is on the Y strap on the outside, so maybe you can tow someone! This is not the ideal distance hiking or ruck pack due to the challenging load distribution, but for a simple pack in and pack out, you can get there with everything you need! In fact, I packed in a whole morning for surfing at the beach and had everything I (and everyone else) wanted. As far as wear, I find these bags to have about a 6 month, continuous use lifespan. After that, I tend to find something starting to fray. But for the occasional day or two or even four, with moderate rucking, the bag is great and will last years. As a bug-out bag, there is plenty of room and the bag works well when thoughtfully packed.
