more is not more
Wonderful story, lagged at times I had to skip ahead, this book could’ve been less than 200 pages imo, hence the 4 stars. Also didn’t care so much for the age gap and the smut was too much.Anyway, Hawk was not my favorite MC. He could’ve treated Nathaniel better. Nathaniel showed Hawk so much more kindness and loyalty than I can say Hawk paid in kind, and I’d like to say Nathaniel deserved someone better, but Hawk was in his own way what Nathaniel needed, so can’t fault him that much. I still wish he’d done one thing for Nathaniel on par with taking a stabbing for him. And I really hated that Nathaniel had to pay for the sins of his father, not fair at all. Also, Nathaniel showed a maturity that was honestly surprising for his age, I mean honestly is thisreally normal 19 yo behavior?Anyway, overall would recommend, I really loved the banter between these two, loved the close proximity which allowed their relationship to develop slowly and sweetly. And finally loved that they got their hea.

Kidnapped by the Pirate
What a fun story! It is definitely a swashbuckling tale, with pirates and kidnapping, ransom demands, family both good and bad, and ultimately, a love for the ages with a wonderful HEA.

Great gay adventure story
This has been one of my favorite reads. Very explicit and saucy. Keira Andrew's is one of my favorite authors and she keeps your curiosity and interest until the endI HOPE TO READ ALL HER BOOKS.

Absolutely Loved It!!
I spent most of my life reading bodice-rippers and pirates were some of my absolute favorites. Since I started reading MM exclusively, I haven't given them a second thought. Until this book came out and I knew that I had to read it.Let me tell you, this book brought back every feeling I used to have when reading those books. I completely lost myself in this story and it almost makes me want to pull out one of my old paperbacks to see if I love it as much now as I did then.Nostalgia aside, I really loved this book. Nathaniel was a bit too naive for my tastes at first but once he was on Hawk's ship, he found his backbone. I both loved and hated how gruff Hawk was towards him and liked that even when he was trying to be tough, you could tell that he was drawn to Nathaniel. I couldn't wait for the passion to flare between them and I was not disappointed. But I wasn't sure how their story would play out. I was also very much hoping that Hawk and Nathaniel wouldn't have to endure a months long separation like the MCs often did in those old bodice-rippers. But I needn't have worried. There's only good stuff here. Nathaniel and Hawk get their HEA in a very fitting way.

Really good pirate m/m story :)
4 starsThis was a very good story. I liked both Nathaniel and Hawk and enjoyed their story and how they came together in the end.Nathaniel is the son of a Governor over an island colony in the new world. He grew up in England and had schooling but always had issues with reading and always prefered a more physical lifestyle than what was considered proper for someone of his station. Nathaniel has always had a longing for men but kept his preference hidden because it's considered a sin (as well as a crime punishable by death).Hawk used to be a good man and Captain of a Privateer ship, legally operating under contract from the crown. Hawk and his crew were screwed over by a evil man (Nathaniel's father) that wrongly invalidated his contract and proclaimed him a criminal to steal his bounty. Hawk and his crew were forced to become pirates because of this treachery. The book description gives a pretty good rundown of how the story begins so I wont give more details that might spoil the story. I will say that although Nathaniel was Hawk's prisoner, he wasn't forced into anything...it was more a matter of him deciding take advantage of his situation before he is ransomed back to his father and forced to marry a woman for her dowry. Hawk is tough but it is partially an act because of his position and he has a soft side that Nathaniel brings out. There's some angst because of the fact that Nathaniel is a bounty and Hawk's crew want their share of the ransom but that plays out well, if a bit suspenseful. In the end, things turn out well all around and Nathaniel and Hawk are able to find a place they can be together and have their HEA.This was a very enjoyable story. Nathaniel was a very good MC and I liked him a lot. Hawk was gruff and I didn't always like his actions but I liked him as a character. Together, Hawk and Nathaniel made a great couple and I was happy with how things worked out. Overall, I really liked the characters and I though the story was very good and engaging so I'd recommend it. :)* note - I listened to the audio version of this story and I thought the narrator did a very good job. I did find the narration a bit slow though so I turned the playback speed up to 1.20% and it worked really well.

A sexy good time
This is one of those books that is exactly what it says it is. An age gap romance where a young virgin is kidnapped by a pirate and things get hotttt. Granted, Keira is seriously a fantastic author so it was a little more than that too, but if you want something generally simple and hot and maybe a little taboo, this is perfect. My biggest flaw honestly was the narration. It wasn’t BAD, but I wouldn’t have read Hawk with that voice… cause the piratey voice is not attractive to me. Like because he became a pirate his accent also changed into whatever that is? It’s not the narrators fault, but the pirate voice.

If you love OFMD read this!
As an avid fan of Our Flag Means Death on HBOMax, I have been searching the seven seasons ( and the internet) for pirate themed gay romance.Nathaniel and Hawk's story has a great mix of drama, angst, swashbuckling, villains, first love, and of course, sex. And a satisfying conclusion. Read it, you won't be disappointed!

Great Plot
3.5 starsI really enjoyed this book, it was well written and had a very good plot. My biggest issue was the relationship development. All of a sudden the characters loved each other and I had no idea why or what changed.

FALLING FOR YOUR CAPTOR
A tale about of gay love when piracy ruled the waves. Nathaniel is the son 9of a wealthy governor of a West Indies colony who wasted his fortune on a non viable colony, so he sends Nathaniel to marry a wealthy girl there, the marriage was arranged by his father and Nat did not know what his betrothed even looked like.He is sent to the colony with his sister, after a few weeks and as they get near their destination a pirate ship, captained by Captain Hawk boards their vessel and kidnaps Nathaniel as a prisoner to demand a heavy ransom from his father. So Nat is now in the custody of the pirate Hawk sleeping on the hard floor of his cabin, not allowed on deck.As time passes Nat feels attracted to his captor's masculinity and apparent ruthlessness, he is a virgin and has never been with a man or woman before but he knows he would love to lose his virginity to a man, maybe one such as Hawk.Hawk is himself attracted to men but would not indulge with members of his crew, he wishes to remain aloof and feared. His sexual encounters have been just a relief with no feelings involved. The pirate ship is also attacked by another ship trying to rescue the valuable cargo that Nat has become. As with many KA stories there is an age gap, it turns out that although Nat has been privately tutored and is well spoken he is unable to read and Hawk has to read to him, much to his annoyance. If the ransom is not paid Nat will die, but he tells Hawk he does not want to die a virgin so eventually Hawk takes his virginity.More adventures and attacks take place and Hawk is eventually captured and ready for the gallows.Nat gets hurt defending Hawk during a sword attack and is sent to recover at his father's governor house. After a few weeks he wants to save Hawk from the gallows and still in pains gets some valuables and is prepared to pay a ransom for his pirate whom he obviously loves. So finally they reunite and for the first time in his life Hawk finds something deeper than mere sexual satisfaction. The story is a bit like a 19th century version of the Stockholm syndrome, beautifully told and it keeps you wanting more.

THE UNRAVELLING OF NATHANIEL OR HOW I BECAME A BOSSY BOTTOM.
This was so tropy. From the description of the style in which Hawk, the notorious pirate dresses, to the villain of the piece admitting and justifying his many sins in an angry rant.Although this was meant to be a bodice-ripping (or britches removing) fun read, I didn’t enjoy it as much as many of Ms Andrews’ other books that I’ve read. Not because of the above mentioned tropes but because of the amount of pages devoted to the sex scenes and the pages and pages of narrative. So much narrative. I actually skipped a lot of the narrative especially when it was all Hawk’s thoughts, and I don’t feel that I missed anything of consequence. The only thing that all that narrative achieved was to keep putting a pause on the story, especially when a major event was about happen - right NOW, and Hawk starts an inner monologue narrative thing. So frustrating. If that was a movie on the tv, I’d be yelling, ‘get on with the story’.So an okay read. 3 stars.
