The back of the case looks like someone sanded it with a sandpaper. Contacted seller to get replacement but received the following answer. "This is not a defect, but a result of the CNC machining to the G10 composite. Some customers report using a microfiber cloth with teak oil to make it appear darker."I am going to contact my credit card to get full refund. They want to charge me return fee.

This is the best case I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried too many. It hits all the sweet spots for my iPhone X. First, it feels substantial in the hand. It has some weight to it, but not too much. And it feels extremely well made. The wide ridges on each side of the case exactly match where my fingers naturally want to hold the device. So there is a huge comfort and grip factor. Second, it pulls off the nifty trick of being able to slide easily in and out of pockets, but not be slippery. (This is where silicone and leather cases fail.) Third, I’m not an electrical engineer and have no explanation, but I swear both Qi charging and tap-to-pay (Apple pay) are faster in this case. Cell reception is unaffected (as good as the plastic-only cases I had been using). My previous gold standard for a case was the classic Speck CandyShell, but this is better. The kickstand works great. The case nicely lies flat on a table, and is not wobbly (I removed the pocket clip). The front is raised a bit to provide a little face down protection, but smartly not too much so that it can be easily wiped to remove dirt and oils from the screen (cases with big lips over the edge prevent an easy wipe). Finally, it looks awesome. No case is worth $250, but I have no regrets here.
