the kit worked like a charm
worked exactly as stated in the description. i have a new trek fuel ex 7 that needed tire repairs and being new to this hydraulic braking system i inadvertently bled the rear brake. needless to say, the brakes were spongy and needed some topping off of fluid. i bought this kit and found that the directions were very clear; it even provided a QR code that if scanned, linked you to online videos that detailed the whole process of bleeding brakes properly. overall, the kit worked like a charm, is affordable, and comes highly recommended.

Verify before you buy. Make sure this kit is compatible with your Shimano brakes model.
Make sure you know your exact Shimano brakes model number and verify in the small print in the product description that this kit is for your exact brakes before you buy it. If your brakes model number is not in the model numbers listed at the bottom of the product description, it's likely this kit won't work for you. I made the mistake of not reading the small print. My fault. I had to "customize" this kit a little bit and it worked for me after that.If your model number matches the model numbers in this kit, it will probably work just fine for you.If everything matches properly, this is a good value. Your local bike shop will charge you more for brake bleeding than this kit costs - so you'll be saving money. The instructions with this kit are okay. Printed on a sheet of paper with relatively small photos. The company's website does have instruction videos that go with their products, but at the time I am writing this, they don't have an instruction video for a Shimano brake bleeding kit.All in all, I would say this is a good kit and a good value. It can save you hundreds of dollars over time bleeding the brakes yourself.

Plunger not working correctly, big mess
I went to use it for the second time and the black rubber piece on the end of the plunger was stuck and the handle came off. I was trying to fill the tube when the handle and rubber part came apart which sent my hand flying into my expensive brake oil and about a third of it spilled out on my garage floor. I had to use my compressor to blow out the black part and reattach it to the plunger. I can only assume some brake fluid got inbetween the two seals on the black rubber part and created a hydraulic lock, making it difficult to pull the plunger to fill up the tube. Maybe the brake fluid is not compatible with the rubber and it caused me money and a big mess to clean up.

A caveman could do it
Great kit! Made the task easy. Directions are thorough and easy to follow and all parts of the kit work perfectly. Two recommendations: Read the directions through once while referencing the kit parts; and, when you remove the reservoir bleed port screw at the start of the process, ensure that you also remove the o-ring. The o-ring may not come out with the screw. If it does not it may be difficult to screw the 20ml syringe into the bleed port and, if you do get it screwed in, the o-ring will end up on the tip of the syringe and you might reinstall the bleed port screw without the o-ring. Ask me how I know.

If you go on YouTube there's a really good video from Performance on the bleeding of the XT's ...
I jsut bled my XT MT-785's a few days so to follow up. If you go on YouTube there's a really good video from Performance on the bleeding of the XT's (MT-785) if you are more of a visual learner (me). The kit is great and works fine but a few caveats:1. The bottle that has the mineral oil is small so be careful when drawing oil from it..be careful not to tip over the bottle. The syringe takes two hands to draw out the oil. I had my son hold the bottle while I was drawing the mineral oil out of it.2. Be careful not to tighten the lever syringe as when it comes to take it off, the small plastic piece where you screw it into the lever will stay on and you'll end up just taking off the syringe body only. I saw this was happening and had to also remove the white piece together..I think I tightened to much..just tighten enough and you should be ok.3. Some people have said the tube might pop out of the nipple on the calipers, but they did not. They were very snug and didn't require me to hold onto it. But check it to make sure. All in all a good kit that does the same without buying the oil funnel.

Make bleeding brakes a pain
This is not a great kit. It uses a second syringe for the reservoir which doesn't have a plunger to plug when finished bleeding. You have to suck the fluid out of it or it will spill all over your brake lever when removed. It probably took twice as long to bleed my brake with this kit over a true Shimano kit.
